The Indian National Congress (Organisation) also known as Congress (O) or Syndicate/Old Congress was a political party in India formed when the Congress party split following the expulsion of Indira Gandhi. On 12 November 1969, the Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was expelled from the Congress party for violating party discipline. Jebamani Mohanraj / Mohan Raj (, Deva, जेबामणि मोहनराज; b. 1951–1952) is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu who founded the Jebamani Janata Party, a registered unrecognized political party. Mohanraj is the son of the "freedom fighter" Nellai R. Jebamani, who was elected in 1977 to represent the Sattankulam constituency in the Tamil Nadu assembly as a member of the Janata Party. Mohanraj named the Jebamani Janata Party after his father. 1977 Tamil Nadu State Assembly Election
The sixth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 10 June 1977. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) won the election, defeating its rival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). M. G. Ramachandran (commonly known as M.G.R), the AIADMK founder and a prominent Tamil film actor, was sworn in as Chief Minister for the first time. The election was a four-cornered contest among the AIADMK, DMK, the Indian National Congress (INC), and the Janata Party. In 1972, M.G.R founded the AIADMK after being expelled from the DMK due to differences with DMK leader M. Karunanidhi. On 31 January 1976, Karunanidhi's government was dismissed by the central government under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, citing non-cooperation under MISA.
