R-7 Expressway (Philippines)
The R-7 Expressway is a proposed expressway in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Originally proposed in 1993, the project will be constructed over the most heavily congested corridors in Metro Manila, namely Quezon Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue. Route 1993 JICA study In 1993, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) performed a study on urban expressways in Metro Manila, which included the R-7 route extending from C-3 to Batasan, covering a distance of approximately and utilizing a combination of elevated, tunnel, and at-grade sections. 1999 MMUTIS proposal In 1999, JICA proposed the construction of a six-lane elevated expressway along Quezon Avenue. Commonwealth Avenue, formerly known as Don Mariano Marcos Avenue, is a highway located in Quezon City, Philippines. It spans six to eighteen lanes, making it the widest road in the country. The Metro Rail Transit Line 7, also known as MRT Line 7 or MRT-7, is a rapid transit line under construction in the Philippines. When completed, the line will be long, with 14 stations, and the first line to have a third rail electrification. The line runs in a northeast–southwest direction, beginning at San Jose del Monte, Bulacan up to the North Triangle Common Station in North Avenue, Quezon City. It will be the second line to use heavy metro cars after LRT Line 2, which was inaugurated in 2003.
