Qianmen Subdistrict
Qianmen Subdistrict () is a subdistrict in the western portion of Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. In 2020, there are 9,081 permanent residents in this subdistrict. The subdistrict was named after the Zhengyangmen, a gate which used to be part of the Beijing city wall, and is colloquially known as "Qianmen" () to the locals. Direct-controlled Municipality
A direct-controlled municipality is the highest level classification for cities used by unitary states, with status equal to that of the provinces in the respective countries. A direct-controlled municipality is similar to, but not the same as, a federal district, a common designation in various countries for a municipality that is not part of any state, and which usually hosts some governmental functions. Usually direct-controlled municipality are under central government control with limited power. In some cases, a similar term in federal states is the federal city. Dongcheng District, Beijing
Dongcheng () is a district of the city of Beijing. It covers the eastern half of Beijing's urban core region, including all of the eastern half of the Old City inside of the 2nd Ring Road (Beijing), 2nd Ring Road with the northernmost extent crossing into the area within the 3rd Ring Road (Beijing), 3rd Ring Road. Its area is further subdivided into 17 subdistricts. Settlement in the area dates back over a millennium. Zhengyangmen
Qianmen () is the colloquial name for Zhengyangmen (; Manchu language, Manchu: ; Möllendorff:tob šun-i duka, ), a gate in Beijing's historic Beijing city fortifications, city wall. The gate is situated to the south of Tiananmen Square and once guarded the southern entry into the Inner City. Although much of Beijing's city walls were demolished, Zhengyangmen remains an important geographical marker of the city. The city's central north–south axis passes through Zhengyangmen's main gate.
