QTQ
QTQ is an Australian television station, licensed to, and serving Brisbane, Queensland. It is owned by the Nine Entertainment Co., and is part of the Nine Network. It broadcasts on VHF Channel 8 (digital). QTQ began broadcasting on 16 August 1959 as the first television station in Queensland. News QTQ-9's nightly news program is ''9News Queensland'', presented on weeknights by Melissa Downes, with Jonathan Uptin presenting sport, and Garry Youngberry presenting the weather. Mia Glover is the weekend presenter, with Dominique Loudon presenting sport and Luke Bradnam presenting weather. In the broadcasting industry, an owned-and-operated station (frequently abbreviated as an O&O) usually refers to a television or radio station owned by the network with which it is associated. This distinguishes such a station from an network affiliate, affiliate, which is independently owned and carries network programming by contract. The concept of an O&O is clearly defined in the United States and Canada (and to some extent, several other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Argentina and Japan), where network-owned stations had historically been the exception rather than the rule. Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited is an Australian publicly listed company with holdings in mass media radio and television broadcasting, publishing and digital media. Melissa Downes (born 17 September 1973) is an Australian broadcast journalist. She is currently a presenter of ''Nine News Queensland.'' Career Downes began her career at the Seven Network in Brisbane as an intern during her final year of university. Following her internship, she was offered a position and took on multiple roles, including reporter, fill-in presenter, and co-host of a live 5:00 p.m. local magazine show. She spent nearly seven years with the network. In 2001, Downes joined the Nine Network in Brisbane as a reporter, later taking on the role of fill-in weekend news presenter. Bruce Paige (born 10 November 1948) is a former newsreader in Brisbane, Australia. He previously presented '' Nine Gold Coast News'' alongside Eva Milic. He previously co-presented '' Nine News Queensland'' alongside Melissa Downes, having paired with Jillian Whiting and Heather Foord in the past.
