Nine News Queensland
''Nine News Queensland'' is the flagship state-based news bulletin of the Nine Network in Brisbane. It is screened across Queensland on weeknights, while on weekends it is also screened on a half-hour delay in the Northern Territory. Like all ''Nine News'' bulletins, the Queensland bulletin runs for one hour, from 6PM every day. It comprises local, national and international news, as well as sport, weather and finance. ''Weekender'' is a Queensland-based lifestyle program screening on Sundays at 5:30pm. Production ''Queensland Weekender'' began in 2003 on the Seven Network on Saturdays at 5:30pm. It was produced by 7 Productions Queensland and often aired alongside similarly themed Queensland lifestyle programs, ''Creek To Coast'' and '' The Great South East''. In November 2019, the Seven Network announced the show had been axed with the final episodes screening in early 2020. In January 2020, Seven announced ''Weekender'', an amalgamated version of Queensland Weekender and The Great Day Out, would begin from February 9, 2020 on Sundays at 5:30pm. Melissa Downes
Melissa Downes (born 17 September 1973) is an Australian broadcast journalist. Downes is currently a co-presenter of '' Nine News Queensland'' alongside Andrew Lofthouse. Career Downes first worked with Seven Brisbane where she was a reporter, fill-in presenter and also co-hosted a live 5pm local magazine show. After joining Nine Brisbane in 2001, Downes reported on the road and acted as fill-in weekend presenter before assuming that role full-time in 2006. Heather Foord
Heather Foord (born 1965) is an Australian television journalist. Foord was a news presenter for the Nine Network in Brisbane for over 20 years, presenting the weekday edition of ''Nine News Queensland'' with Bruce Paige between 1995–2001, and again between 2004–2008. She also presented the weekend news with Mike London between 2001–2004, and then solo between 2009–2011 before retiring from television news in June 2011. Career Foord attended Brisbane State High School for her secondary education. After graduating from the University of Queensland, Foord worked with ''Good Morning Australia'' at Network Ten before joining ''Nine News'' as a reporter. She quickly made the transition to news reader, taking a weekend hosting position after 6 months. Chris Whiting
Christopher Guy Whiting (born 13 July 1966) is an Australian politician. He has been the Australian Labor Party member for Bancroft in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2017, and previously represented Murrumba from 2015 to 2017. Early life Whiting graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Journalism. Political career Prior to being elected as a member of the Queensland Parliament, he represented Burpengary, Beachmere and Deception Bay for 12 years on the Caboolture Shire Council and then the Moreton Bay Regional Council. ''Extra'' (originally ''Brisbane Extra'') was a nightly tabloid local current affairs program, broadcast on Nine Network Queensland. Heather Foord was the last host of the program. A weekend version also aired on a Saturday afternoon named ''Weekend Extra'' hosted by Melissa Downes.
