Pyrrhon (band)
Pyrrhon is a technical death metal quartet based in Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2008, the group comprises vocalist Doug Moore, guitarist Dylan DiLella, bassist Erik Malave, and drummer Steve Schwegler. Doug Moore says the group's main objective is to expand the definition of heavy metal while retaining the same passion of the genre. History Guitarist Dylan DiLella and bassist Mike Sheen met on a subway platform. The two decided on forming a band and invited drummer Alex Cohen, a classmate of Sheen's, and vocalist Doug Moore, whom DiLella had known since high school, to join the band. After some dispute the group settled on recording and performing under the name Pyrrhon, inspired by the Greek philosopher, Pyrrho. The band was officially formed in November 2008. In 2009, Sheen departed from the group to study abroad and was replaced by Erik Malave. The band's first official release was an EP titled '' Fever Kingdoms'', issued on Path Less Traveled in 2010. Math Rock Groups
Mathematics is a field of study that discovers and organizes methods, theories and theorems that are developed and proved for the needs of empirical sciences and mathematics itself. There are many areas of mathematics, which include number theory (the study of numbers), algebra (the study of formulas and related structures), geometry (the study of shapes and spaces that contain them), analysis (the study of continuous changes), and set theory (presently used as a foundation for all mathematics). Mathematics involves the description and manipulation of abstract objects that consist of either abstractions from nature orin modern mathematicspurely abstract entities that are stipulated to have certain properties, called axioms. ''What Passes for Survival'' is the third studio album by Pyrrhon, released on April 1, 2017 by Willowtip Records. Critical reception Reception towards the album was fairly positive. Spyros Stasis for ''PopMatters'' called the album "the apex moment for Pyrhhon" and that "even though the leap forward is not as substantial as it was from debut to sophomore records, the band is still able to improve further, displaying a clearer vision and highlighting more clearly the intricacies of its sound." George Parr for ''Astral Noize'' stated that the band "continues to flaunt its avant-garde extremity on their third LP, taking maniacal twists and turns, ever adapting but always remaining an aurally challenging style oozing with unparalleled ferocity." Death (metal Band)
Death was an American death metal band formed in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in 1983 by guitarist Chuck Schuldiner (who later became the band's sole vocalist), drummer/vocalist Kam Lee and guitarist Rick Rozz. Formed out of what would become the Florida death metal scene, Death is considered to be a pioneering band in death metal. The band's 1987 debut album, '' Scream Bloody Gore'', has been widely regarded as one of the first death metal records, alongside the first records from Possessed and Necrophagia. Death had a revolving lineup, with Schuldiner, aside from a European tour, being the sole consistent member. The group's style also progressed, from the raw sound on its first two albums to a more complex one in its later stage. The band disbanded after Schuldiner died of glioma and pneumonia in December 2001, but remains an enduring influence on heavy metal. History Early history (1983–1985) Founded in either 1983 or 1984 by Chuck Schuldiner under the original ...
