''Punky'' is an Irish animated television series created by Lindsay J. Sedgwick and produced by Dublin based Monster Animation and Design. The series features the lead character as having Down syndrome, with the intention of being the first animated series to do so. Development The show's creative director is Jason Tammemagi, who has been involved in a number of animated shows for pre-school children, including Fluffy Gardens. The series is produced with the support of Down Syndrome Ireland, who also reviewed material during development and production of the series. The series is supported by investment incentives from the Government of Ireland (Section 481), in association with RTÉjr, with the participation of the Irish Film Board and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound & Vision Fund. ''Punky Brewster'' is an American sitcom television series about a young girl (Soleil Moon Frye) being raised by a foster parent (George Gaynes). The show ran on NBC from September 16, 1984, to March 9, 1986, and again in syndication from October 30, 1987, to May 27, 1988. ''Punky Brewster'' spawned an animated spin-off, ''It's Punky Brewster''. The series featured the original cast voicing their respective characters. The cartoon was produced by Ruby-Spears, and aired on NBC from September 14, 1985, to December 6, 1986. In 2020, NBC confirmed a 10-episode revival to air on its Peacock streaming service. ''Punky Brüster – Cooked on Phonics'' is the debut studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend, originally released as ''Cooked on Phonics'' under the fictional band name Punky Brüster. It was released on Townsend's label, HevyDevy Records, on March 19, 1996. It is a comedic metal/ punk rock concept album written by Townsend. ''Cooked on Phonics'' tells the story of a fictitious death metal band "from South Central Poland" called Cryptic Coroner that sells out their metal look and sound to become a commercial punk rock band called Punky Brüster (the band's name being a pun on the 1980s U.S. television series ''Punky Brewster''). ''Punky Skunk'' is a side-scrolling action-platform video game developed by Ukiyotei and published by Visit in Japan on 1 November 1996 and by Jaleco in North America in February 1998 for the PlayStation. It takes place on a set of island archipiélagos where the wolf Badler and his legion of mouse-like Chews are threatening to pollute the locations through industries and machinery.
