''Punky Brewster'' is an American Situation comedy, sitcom television series about a young girl (Soleil Moon Frye) being raised by a foster parent (George Gaynes) in Chicago. The show ran on NBC from September 16, 1984, to March 9, 1986, and again in Broadcast syndication, syndication from October 30, 1987, to May 27, 1988. ''Punky Brewster'' spawned an animated spin-off, ''It's Punky Brewster''. The series featured the original cast voicing their respective characters. The cartoon was produced by Ruby-Spears, and aired on NBC from September 14, 1985, to December 6, 1986. In 2020, NBC confirmed a 10-episode Punky Brewster (2021 TV series), revival to air on its Peacock (streaming service), Peacock streaming service. Ruby-Spears Productions (also known as Ruby-Spears Enterprises) was an American entertainment production company founded by veteran writers and '' Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!'' creators, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, in 1977, before closing in 1996. Robert Sosebee Woods (born March 13, 1948) is an American actor best known for playing Bo Buchanan on the ABC soap ''One Life to Live'', a role for which he won the 1983 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Dody Goodman (October 28, 1914 – June 22, 2008) was an American character actress. She played the mother of the title character in the television series '' Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman'', her distinctive high-pitched voice announcing the show's title at the beginning of each episode.
