Puliyanmala
Puliyanmala is a village in Idukki district of Kerala state, India. The places intersects SH-19 ( Munnar-Kumily) and SH-33 (Thodupuzha-Puliyanmala), which are the two important state highways in the district. It comes under the premises of Kattappana municipality and belongs to the newly formed Idukki constituency. Location Puliyanamala is located very close to the border of Theni district in Tamil Nadu. It is about 6 km from Kattappana, 27 km from Kumily, 12 km from Cumbummettu via Annyarthozhu and 15 km from Nedumkandam. It is a high altitude region situated about above mean sea level. The tourist spot at Ramakkalmedu is 17 km distant. Economy Predominantly Puliyanmala is an agricultural village with many vast cardamom plantations. It became the first place in Kerala to have a high-tech slaughterhouse, where 30 cattle can be slaughtered per day. Kattappana
Kattappana is a municipal town in the Sahyadri (or Western Ghats) of Kerala state, India. It is the main urban centre in the high ranges of Idukki district, situated about from sea level. It is the second city to became a municipality in Idukki District. It is a major commercial town and flourished with the boost in production of agriculture and spices. Municipal administration Previously, Kattappana was included in the Udumbanchola tehsil (taluk) of Idukki district and was later included in the newly formed Idukki tehsil (taluk). It was officially declared as municipality by the state government on 1 November 2015. It became the second municipality in the district, while Thodupuzha became the first. Kumily
Kumily also spelt as Kumaly is a revenue village and Gram Panchayat in the Idukki district of Kerala. It is a town in Cardamom Hills near Thekkady and Periyar Tiger Reserve. Kumily is a gateway town into Kerala from Tamil Nadu. History The present-day Kumily has roots in the British colonial period. The area was once owned by the Thekkumkoor rajas in central Travancore and later when Marthanda Varma conducted his campaigns in central Travancore, regions including Kumily came under the kingdom of Travancore. Till the end of the 19th century, the area was given under control of Poonjar kings. But the drastic and significant changes occurred in the region by the advent of British powers. Cardamom
Cardamom (), sometimes cardamon or cardamum, is a spice made from the seeds of several plants in the genera ''Elettaria'' and ''Amomum'' in the family Zingiberaceae. Both genera are native to the Indian subcontinent and Indonesia. Ramakkalmedu
Ramakkalmedu is a hill station and a hamlet in Idukki district in the Indian state of Kerala. The place is noted for its panoramic beauty and numerous windmills. Location It is located about 15 km from Nedumkandam on the Munnar-Thekkady route. Nearby towns are Thookkupalam (5 km), Kattappana (25 km), and Kumily (40 km). Thodupuzha (തൊടുപുഴ) is a municipal town located in Idukki district, Kerala, India, that covers an area of . It lies on the banks of Thodupuzha river, which merges with the Kaliyar and Kothamangalam rivers at Muvattupuzha to form the Muvattupuzha river. Thodupuzha is from Kottayam, from Kattappana and south east of Kochi. Thodupuzha is from the state capital, Trivandrum.
