Puff Daddy
Sean John Combs (born November 4, 1969), better known by his stage name Diddy, and formerly Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, is an American rapper, record producer, and record executive. Born in Harlem and raised in Mount Vernon, Combs worked as a talent director at Uptown Records before founding his own record label, Bad Boy Records in 1993. He is credited with the discovery and development of musical artists including Mary J. Blige, Usher and the Notorious B.I.G., for whom he served as manager and hype man. Combs's debut studio album, '' No Way Out'' (1997), peaked atop the ''Billboard'' 200 and has sold over 7 million copies in the US. Two of its singles, " Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" and " I'll Be Missing You", topped the ''Billboard'' Hot 100—the latter was the first hip hop song to debut atop the chart. 2012 Cannes Film Festival
The 65th Cannes Film Festival took place from 16 to 27 May 2012. Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti was the president of the jury for the main competition. French actress Bérénice Bejo hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke won the Palme d'Or, the festival's top prize, for the drama film '' Amour.'' The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. ''No Way Out'' is the debut studio album by American rapper Sean Combs, under the name Puff Daddy. It was released on July 22, 1997, via Arista Records and Combs' Bad Boy Records. The album is credited to "Puff Daddy & the Family"; the latter act refers to guest appearances from his signees at Bad Boy. Puff Daddy worked extensively with the Notorious B.I.G. and the Hitmen when creating the album, which saw a change in direction following the former's shooting and death months prior to release. This greatly affected Combs, and with a combination of aggressive and introspective lyrics, he conveys an emotionally vulnerable state representing the before and after of the Notorious B.I.G.'s death. A hype man, typically in hip hop music, is a backing vocalist who supports the primary performer with exclamations, interjections, or ad-libs in an attempt to increase an audience's excitement or engagement. Uptown Records is an American record label, based in New York City, founded in 1986 by old school rapper ‘Dr Jekyll’ - Andre Harrell. From the late 1980s into the early 1990s, it was a leader in R&B and hip-hop. Beginnings and success In 1986, Andre Harrell, one half of short-lived rap duo Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, founded Uptown Records.
