Prestatyn High School
Prestatyn High School is the only secondary school in the town of Prestatyn, and one of 9 secondary schools in the entire county of Denbighshire. It is one of the largest schools in the region and the country with over 1,800 pupils and 250 staff. The school is taught through the English medium. Prestatyn
Prestatyn is a seaside town and community in Denbighshire, Wales. Historically a part of Flintshire, it is located on the Irish Sea coast, to the east of Rhyl. Prestatyn has a population of 19,085, History Prehistory There is evidence that the current town location has been occupied since prehistoric times. Prehistoric tools found in the caves of Graig Fawr, in the nearby village of Meliden, have revealed the existence of early human habitation in the area. Roman The Roman bathhouse is believed to be part of a fort on the road from Chester to Caernarfon. However, much of "Roman Prestatyn" has been destroyed as houses have been built over unexcavated land. Denbighshire
Denbighshire ( ; cy, Sir Ddinbych; ) is a county in the north-east of Wales. Its borders differ from the historic county of the same name. Danny Coyne
Daniel Coyne (born 27 August 1973) is a Welsh football coach and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a goalkeeper who played between 1992 and 2018. He came through the youth ranks at Tranmere Rovers during the 1992–93 season. Coyne eventually went on to become the club's first choice keeper and went on to make 111 appearances in the league before signing for Grimsby Town in the summer of 1999. He spent four seasons at Blundell Park, two of which saw him named "Supporters' Player of the Season" and thus becoming an integral part of every Grimsby team he played in. In his final year at Town the club suffered relegation from the Football League First Division. In July 2003 Coyne signed with Premier League side Leicester City where he was understudy to Ian Walker for one season before moving to Burnley. Will Owen (cricketer)
William Thomas Owen (born 2 September 1988) is a Welsh cricketer who plays for Cheshire. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. Born in St Asaph, Clwyd, Owen attended Prestatyn High School and began his cricket career playing for Prestatyn Cricket Club. He was soon spotted by the Glamorgan scouts and began playing for their second XI in 2006. In 2007, he made his debut for Wales Minor Counties and at the end of the season, he made his first-class debut for Glamorgan, playing in their final County Championship match of the season against Gloucestershire. That year, Owen began a degree course at UWIC in Cardiff, and therefore divided his time in the 2008 season between playing for the Cardiff University Centre of Cricketing Excellence, the Glamorgan 2nd XI, Wales Minor Counties, Pentyrch and Prestatyn. Andy Pollitt
Robert Andrew Pollitt (26 October 1963 – 13 November 2019) was a British rock climber who was one of the most prominent traditional climbers and sport climbers of the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1992, after having successfully repeated ''Punks in the Gym'' in Australia, the world's first-ever graded sport climbing routes, he quit climbing and permanently emigrated to Australia. In 2016, Pollitt published an autobiography, titled ''Punk in the Gym''. He died from a cerebral aneurysm on 13 November 2019. Early life Andy Pollitt was born in Prestatyn, North Wales, on 26 October 1963. His father was an actor who had small parts in Z-Cars, Coronation Street, and Doctor Who before eventually leaving the family. Sam Wainwright
Sam Wainwright (born 7 May 1998) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays as a prop for United Rugby Championship club the Scarlets. He is a Wales international, and has also appeared for the U20 team. Club career Wainwright began his career at local club Rhyl and District RFC before joining the North Wales regional side RGC 1404. He was signed by Saracens in May 2019, and made his debut against Wasps in the Premiership Rugby Cup on 21 September 2019. On 18 November 2022, Wainwright joined the Scarlets on a short term contract, until the end of the 2022–2023 season. International career Wainwright represented Wales U20.
