Pratighaat
''Pratighaat'' () is a 1987 Hindi feminist drama film directed by N. Chandra, starring Sujata Mehta in the lead. It is a remake of the Telugu film ''Pratighatana'' (1985), directed by T. Krishna, with Vijayshanti in the lead. Made on a low budget, and with no big stars, it went on to become a hit, making Rs. 8 crore at the box office. It became part of the hat-trick of hit films by N. Chandra, '' Ankush'' (1986), ''Pratighaat'' and ''Tezaab'' (1988). Plot The film deals with politics-criminal nexus and a college lecturer who takes them on, even after she faces public disrobing. She finally takes the law into her own hands to avenge her insult. ''Pratighatana'' () is a 1985 Indian Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by T. Krishna. The film is produced by Ramoji Rao under Ushakiran Movies. The plot follows a woman's fight against corruption and criminalization of politics in India. The film stars Vijayshanti alongside Chandra Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sai Kumar, P. L. Narayana, Charan Raj, Suthi Velu, Rajasekhar, Narra Venkateswara Rao, and Y. Vijaya who appear in supporting roles. Music is composed by K. Chakravarthy. The film is released on 11 October 1985. It was premiered at International Film Festival of India and has garnered the Filmfare Best Film Award (Telugu). Sujata Mehta (born 11 March 1959) is an Indian actress of Gujarati origin who has acted in plays and Hindi films, mostly known for her lead role in '' Pratighaat'' (1987) and supporting roles in '' Yateem'' (1988) and '' Gunaah'' (1993).
