Poole () is a large coastal town and seaport in Dorset, on the south coast of England. The town is east of Dorchester and adjoins Bournemouth to the east. Since 1 April 2019, the local authority is Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council which is a unitary authority. Poole had an estimated population of 151,500 (mid-2016 census estimates) making it the second-largest town in the ceremonial county of Dorset. Together with Bournemouth and Christchurch, the conurbation has a total population of nearly 400,000. Human settlement in the area dates back to before the Iron Age. Dorset ( ; archaically: Dorsetshire , ) is a county in South West England on the English Channel coast. The 2019 Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council election took place on 2 May 2019 to elect the inaugural members of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council in England, formed from the former unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole, and borough of Christchurch. At the same time an election for the new Christchurch Town Council was held. A shadow authority comprising elected members of the three preceding councils and relevant members of Dorset County Council sat prior to the election. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is a unitary local authority for the district of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in England that came into being on 1 April 2019. It was created from the areas that were previously administered by the unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole and the non-metropolitan district of Christchurch. Poole Borough Council
Poole Borough Council was the unitary authority responsible for local government in the Borough of Poole, Dorset, England. It was created on 1 April 1997 following a review by the Local Government Commission for England (1992), becoming administratively independent from Dorset County Council, and ceased to exist on 1 April 2019. Its council comprised 16 wards and 42 councillors and was controlled by a Conservative administration before it was merged into Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. The council was based at Poole Civic Centre. Poole Town Centre is an area of Poole, Dorset. It is just to the west of Poole Park. Poole Old Town is home to many historic buildings like the 15th-century Scaplen's Court, the 18th-century Custom House and the Victorian St James' Church. Longfleet
Longfleet is a small district of Poole, Dorset centred on Longfleet Road. It is situated directly north of the town centre and lies to the east of Oakdale and to the south and west of Parkstone. History The area of Longfleet was originally part of the Manor of Canford and mentioned in the Pipe Rolls of 1230. It became a parish of its own right in 1833. Longfleet is also the site of the Tatnam Well which used to provide water for the town of Poole. In the early 1870s, Longfleet was ''"a tything and a chapelry in Canford Magna parish bout1 mile NNE of Poole town and r. station; and includes part of the town and of the harbour..."'' Baiter Park is a waterfront area of Poole, Dorset. Baiter Park is part of Harbourside Park along with Whitecliff Park. The park is bordered to the north by Labrador Drive and Catalina Drive and to the south by the edge of Poole Harbour and Parkstone Bay. Baiter Park is to the east of Poole Town Centre.
