Adalbert Poole
Adalbert James Moses Poole (December 11, 1881 – September 26, 1970) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1927 to 1936 as a member of the Progressive Party. Poole was born in Neepawa, Manitoba, the son of Timothy Poole and Francis Ducklow, and was educated at a rural school and business college. He worked as a farmer, and was a director of the Manitoba Wheat Pool for three years. In 1909, he married Alice Watson. Poole also served as the president of the United Farmers of Manitoba from 1925 to 1928, and of the Canadian Council of Agriculture from 1927 to 1928. He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the 1927 provincial election, defeating Conservative candidate E.H. Daniel Poole
Daniel Poole DCM & Bar (21 April 1882 – 13 August 1959) was an Australian soldier and sailor. On 15 April 1917, during the battle of Lagnicourt, Poole collected a party of men and led them forward under heavy fire, killing nine enemy and capturing fifteen prisoners. For his leadership and bravery he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. Fanny Runnells Poole (, Runnells; 1863–1940) was an American writer. She was a book reviewer for ''Home Journal'' and ''Town and Country'', 1894-8. She was the author of ''A Bank of Violets'' (verse), 1895; ''Three Songs of Love'' (music), 1906; and ''Mugen'' (verse), 1908. She also compiled an unpublished poetical anthology. Poole enjoyed singing, teaching, the care of little children, the culture of flowers, embroidery, and old book and picture collections. But her absorbing passion was poetry. Poole died in 1940. Ernest Cook Poole (January 23, 1880 – January 10, 1950) was an American journalist, novelist, and playwright. Eric Joseph Poole (December 19, 1907 – January 1, 1969) was a building contractor and a Canadian federal politician. Political career Poole first ran for political office in the 1935 Canadian federal election as a Social Credit candidate. He defeated incumbent Member of Parliament Alfred Speakman to pick up the seat for his party and win his only term in office. Poole was one of nine federal members of parliament to attend the founding political convention of the Quebec Social Credit League in Hull, Quebec on January 29, 1939. The event was attended by over 700 delegates. Later that year in a speech in the House of Commons on April 15, 1939, Poole criticized the Liberal and Conservative parties for failing to create employment. Eric Skeffington Poole (20 January 1885 – 10 December 1916) was a British Army soldier who was the first commissioned officer to be executed by British military authority during World War I. Originally from Canada, after serving on the Western Front for four months he was sentenced to death by court martial for desertion during the Battle of the Somme, and shot by a firing squad on 10 December 1916. Elizabeth Poole or Pole (25 August 1588 – 21 May 1654) was an English settler in Plymouth Colony who founded the town of Taunton, Massachusetts. Earl Lincoln Poole (1891–1972) was an American wildlife artist, sculptor, author, and naturalist. He was born on October 30, 1891 in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Published versions of his illustrations appeared in ''Birds of Virginia'' (1913) and ''Bird Studies at Old Cape May'' (1937). After completing high school, Poole attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and was a Jessup Scholar at the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences.
