Poland
Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a country in Central Europe. Henoch Barczyński
Henoch (Henryk) Barczyński (15 December 1896 ) was a Polish painter, graphic artist, illustrator of Jewish descent. Biography Henoch Barczyński was a son of Szmul Barczyński, a tailor, and Sara (). Between 1912 and 1914, he studied graphics in Jakub Katsenbogen's drawing school in Łódź. Later he was a pupil of Henryk Glicenstein in Warsaw. From 1919 until 1926, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Art in Dresden. He was connected with the artistic group Yung-yidish in Łódź. In 1925, he won the first prize for a propaganda poster during the International Red Cross Contest. He visited France, Spain and Italy. He spend some months in Paris and Prague. Between 1927 and 1933, he lived in Berlin. In 1933, he returned to Łódź. From 1933 until 1939 he lived in his hometown. In September 1939, he settled in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. Józef Brandt
Józef Brandt (1841 in Szczebrzeszyn – 1915 in Radom) was a Polish painter best known for his paintings of battles in Polish history. Life Brandt studied in Warsaw in the school of J.N. Leszczynski and at the Noblemen's Institute. In 1858 he left for Paris to study at the Ecole centrale Paris but was persuaded by Juliusz Kossak to abandon engineering in favor of painting. He studied as a painter in Munich under Franz Adam and Karl Piloty and then opened his own studio. His paintings mostly study 17th-century military life, though he has also made some studies of Polish peasant life. In 1893, Brandt was awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic, and in 1898, he became the recipient of the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art. Centre of Polish Sculpture Brandt's 19th century manor house in Orońsko together with surrounding park serves today as the Centre of Polish Sculpture. Olga Boznańska
Olga Boznańska (15 April 1865 – 26 October 1940) was a Polish painter of the turn of the 20th century. She was a notable painter in Poland and Europe, and was stylistically associated with the French impressionism, though she rejected this label. Early life Boznańska was born in Kraków during foreign partitions of Poland. She was the daughter of Adam Nowina Boznański, (from a noble Polish family but influenced by positivism to take up work as a railway engineer) and teacher Eugénie ''née'' Mondan originally from Valence, France. Education and artistic training Boznańska learned drawing first from her mother who was a teacher in the convent school of Premonstratensians in Imbramowice near Kraków, then with Józef Siedlecki, Kazimierz Pochwalski and Antoni Piotrowski between 1883-6. Stanisław Bohusz-Siestrzeńcewicz (; 11 November 1869 – 24 May 1927) was a Polish-Lithuanian painter and illustrator. Biography He was born on 11 November 1869 in Vilnius to a noble family. Krzysztof Boguszewski
Krzysztof Boguszewski of Ostoja coat of arms, Clan Ostoja (died 1635) was a Polish Baroque painter. He was son of August and raised in Chełmno County, by a family that was part of Clan of Ostoja. In early years Krzysztof mastered his skills in Gdańsk under the supervision of Herman Han. Then in 1623 he was appointed painter by king Sigismund III Vasa to work for the Crown. Between 1627 and 1631 he worked on paintings showing the Battle of Grunwald in the Town Hall of Gdańsk. In 1628 he worked in the Abbacy of Gościkowo-Paradyż instructed by Abbot Marek Łętowski. Jan Bohuszewicz
Jan Bohuszewicz (born 7 February 1878 in Osowiec; died 13 February 1935 in Santa Margherita Ligure) was a Polish painter. Jan Bohuszewicz studied painting with Józef Rapacki in Warsaw. He took an active part in the Revolution of 1905, following which he moved to Zakopane, to flee repression. Antoni Blank
Jan Antoni Blank (6 May 1785, in Olsztyn – 20 February 1844, in Warsaw) was a Polish painter in the Classical style who specialized in portraits and miniatures; many of which are in a style similar to Biedermeier. Anna Bilińska
Anna Bilińska (pronounced: also known as Anna Bilińska-Bohdanowicz; 8 December 1854 – 8 April 1893) was a Polish painter, known for her portraits. A representative of realism, she spent most of her life in Paris, and is considered the "first internationally known Polish woman artist." Life Early years She was born 1854 in Zlatopol (formerly a frontier town of the Russian Empire, today a part of Novomyrhorod, Ukraine) as ''Anna Bilińska'', and spent her childhood there with her father, a Polish physician. Dora Bianka
Dora Bianka (née Dorota Kucembianka; November 6, 1895, or 1896 – September 8, 1979) was a Polish painter and illustrator. She was known for her still life paintings; and landscape painting, particularly of seascapes of the South of France, and views of Paris. She had lived in Paris for many years, before moving to Aix-en-Provence. Early life and education Dora Bianka was born as Dorota Kucembianka, on November 6, 1895, or 1896, in Warsaw, Poland. Jan Betley
Jan Betley (1908 - 1980) was a Polish painter. Betley was born in Płock. Before the World War II, he was a student of two well known Polish painters, Tadeusz Pruszkowski and Felicjan Kowarski, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (ASP). In 1936, he graduated under the advisory of Pruszkowski and qualified himself as the assistant-professor in 1948. Most of his early paintings were lost during the war time.
