Pogoń Tczew
Pogoń Tczew is a women's football club from the Kociewian town of Tczew, Poland. As of the 2024–25 season, they play in the Ekstraliga. The club is currently also known as Energa Pogoń Tczew due to sponsorship by Polish distribution network operator Energa. History Pogoń Tczew was founded in 2016 when the women's section of Gryf Tczew broke away to form a separate club. Their first game as an independent club was played against AZS-AWFiS Gdańsk. The 2021–2022 season saw Pogoń Tczew promoted from the I liga into the Ekstraliga for the first time in their history. By the winter break of the 2022–23 season, Pogoń Tczew's debut in the Ekstraliga, the team were in the relegation zone, however they went on to finish the season in ninth position in the table. The following season, they finished one place higher, sealing Medyk Konin's relegation in their final match. Ekstraliga (women's Football)
The Ekstraliga (), officially known as Orlen Superliga due to its sponsorship by Orlen, is the top Polish league for women's association football teams. The league's first season was in 1979–80. Initially, it was called ''I liga polska kobiet''. The first title holder was Czarni Sosnowiec. In 2005, the league was renamed to ''Ekstraliga kobiet''. The winner of the league qualifies for the UEFA Women's Champions League. Relegated teams descend to the I liga. Teams Format Up to the 2009–10 season with six teams in the league, the teams played each other four times per season. Thus, each club was totalling 20 matches. Wisła Tczew is a Polish professional football and boxing club based in Tczew, Kociewie, Poland. Founded in 1924, the club has traditionally worn a white and red strip for both home and away appearances. The club takes its name from the Polish word for the Vistula which runs through Tczew. Pogoń Szczecin is a women's football club from Szczecin, Poland, the women's section of Pogoń Szczecin. One-time league champions, they currently compete in the Ekstraliga, the country's top division. History The team was founded as TKKF Gryf Szczecin. The team reached the Ekstraliga for the first time in 2010. In its debut season in the top division Gryf finished 4th, and it subsequently became Pogoń's women team. It has been successful in the national cup, reaching the final for three seasons in a row between 2009 and 2011. In them Gryf lost once to AZS Wrocław and twice to Unia Racibórz. Unia Tczew is a sports club based in Tczew, Poland. The sports club was created in 1922 and is separated into two areas, football and rowing. Football The club was founded in 1922 as ''Tczewski Sports Club'' changing its name in 1924 to ''TKS Olympia Tczew''. In 1929 the team joined the Pomeranian OZPN and received support from the Railway Military Training and as a result became ''KPW Unia Tczew''. The Polish Football Association ( PZPN) is the governing body of association football in Poland. It organizes the Polish football leagues (without the ), the national cups, and manages the men's and women's national teams. It also runs the national futsal and beach soccer competitions.
