Platinum City F.C.
Platinum City Rovers F.C. (formerly Polokwane City Rovers) is a South African football club based in the small North West town of Mogwase. They earned promotion to the 2021–22 National First Division after finishing second in the 2020–21 SAFA Second Division playoffs. The North West province then got its first soccer team in the two highest divisions for men, after Platinum Stars had bowed out in 2018. They were relegated at the end of the 2023–24 National First Division season. Tlou Segolela
Tlou Segolela (born 1 April 1988) is a retired South African association football midfielder who played as a right-winger and currently a Manager for SAFA Second Division side Platinum City F.C., Platinum City Rovers. Segolela was born in Moletjie near Polokwane, Transvaal Province, Transvaal, and has been nicknamed "Gautrain" and "Riya Vaya", which means "here we go", by fans in recognition of his speed. He was the part of Orlando Pirates F.C., Orlando pirates team which won Double-Treble titles in two successive seasons (2011–12 & 2010–11), which include two league titles. His most notable contribution was a famous corner kick which resulted in a goal by Isaac Chansa just outside the box in the 85th minute, on the last game-day of the season. Pirates were deadlocked at 1–1 against Arrows at the time, and needed a goal to win the League title for the first time in 7 years. The South African Championship, officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African football after the South African Premiership. Both the South African Championship and South African Premiership are organised by the Premier Soccer League. Structure and rules Seasons 2007–2011 The restructured NFD was divided into two streams, one inland and another coastal – each of which consisted of 8 teams.
