Pisogne
Pisogne ( Camunian: ) is a ''comune'' of 8156 inhabitants in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy. Geography Pisogne is situated at the northern-east tip of Lake Iseo, where the river Oglio flows into the lake. It is the lowermost commune of the Val Camonica. Neighbouring communes are Marone, Pezzaze, Pian Camuno and Costa Volpino. History Pisogne is mentioned for the first time in 1227. In 1287 the great rebellion led by Camunian Federici noble family against the city of Brescia, was followed by the killing of several of Pisogne Guelphs resident there. Following this fact, the town was fortified between the 12th and 13th century and granted to the Brusati family. In 1518 eight witches were convicted of arson in Pisogne. On November 14, 1727, the bandit Giorgio Vicario, one of the most feared of Val Camonica "buli" (bandits), born in Pisogne in 1695, was murdered. Santa Maria Della Neve, Pisogne
Church of Santa Maria della Neve ( it, Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve) is a Roman Catholic church in the town of Pisogne, in the province of Brescia, part of the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Walls of the interior contains fragments of the cycle of frescos by Romanino depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ. History The church of Santa Maria della Neve was built at the end of the 15th century at the crossroads of the two main suburban roads and the trade axis, namely the 'Valeriana' road leading to the Alpine Pass and the road leading to the mines and the Trompia Valley. This place was a busy transit point and this building was a very popular Marian shrine. For this reason, in the early 1630s, it was completely renovated: two porticos connected to the central body for the reception and welcoming of pilgrims, and a terminal chapel on the south portico. Val Camonica (also ''Valcamonica'' or Camonica Valley, Eastern Lombard: ''Al Camònega'') is one of the largest valleys of the central Alps, in eastern Lombardy, Italy. It extends about from the Tonale Pass to Corna Trentapassi, in the commune of Pisogne near Lake Iseo. Marone (Brescian: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy. Physical geography Territory Marone is located on the eastern shore of Lake Iseo at about 200 m a.s.l. The territory is mainly mountainous. It borders to the north with Toline, a fraction of the municipality of Pisogne; to the east with the town of Zone and to the south with Sale Marasino. There are two main water streams: the ''Bagnadore'' and the ''Opol''. Konstancin-Jeziorna is a town in Piaseczno County, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland, with 17,566 inhabitants (as of March 2011, according to GUS). Girolamo Romani, known as Romanino (c. 1485 - c. 1566), was an Italian High Renaissance painter active in the Veneto and Lombardy, near Brescia. His long career brought forth several different styles. Biography Romani was born in Brescia. His early training and life are not well documented. A Quattrocento-esque ''Pietà'', painted for the church of ''San Lorenzo'' of Brescia, dated from 1510, is exhibited in the Accademia. He took up residence in Venice in his twenties, at the latest by 1513. He was commissioned to complete a ''Madonna enthroned with four saints'' for the church of Santa Giustina in Padua in 1513. The coloration of the painting is of Venetian style, but the duller visages in bejeweled setting recalls styles of previous generations. He completed series of frescoes for Niccolò Orsini's Palace in Ghedi and an altarpiece for San Francesco, Brescia.
