''Pimpalation'' is the second solo studio album by American rapper Pimp C from UGK. It was released on July 11, 2006 through Rap-A-Lot Records, Asylum Records and Atlantic Records, making it the rapper's last solo album released during his lifetime. Recording sessions took place at Dean's List House of Hits, at M.A.D. Studios and Studio 7303 in Houston and at PatchWerk Recording Studios in Atlanta. Production was handled by several record producers, including Mr. Lee, Mike Dean, Jazze Pha and Mannie Fresh. A chopped and screwed version of the album was mixed by DJ Michael "5000" Watts. The album features a large number of guest performers, such as 8Ball & MJG, ABN, Ali & Gipp, Big Mike, Bun B, Chamillionaire, J. Prince, Lil' Boosie, Lil' Keke, Mike Jones, Scarface, Slim Thug, Tela, Webbie and Willie D among others. Pimp C
Chad Lamont Butler (December 29, 1973 – December 4, 2007), better known by his stage name Pimp C, was an American rapper and record producer. He was best known for his work with Bun B as one half of the hip-hop duo Underground Kingz (UGK). Signing to Jive Records in 1992, UGK released their major-label debut album '' Too Hard to Swallow'' to critical acclaim. The group followed this with their second and third major-label albums '' Super Tight'' in 1994 and '' Ridin' Dirty'' in 1996, both of which charted in the ''Billboard'' 200 to further success. The group received national attention in 2000 after being featured on Jay-Z's hit single " Big Pimpin'", which peaked at #18 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #1 on the Rhythmic Top 40. Knockin' Doorz Down
"Knockin' Doorz Down" is the second single off Pimp C's second album ''Pimpalation''. It features P.O.P. & Lil Keke. In the music video, directed by Benny Mathews, the third verse is rapped by Pimp C instead of Lil Keke. Lil Flip, Mike Jones, Trae, Bun B, & J. Prince also made cameo appearances. In the song, Pimp C raps about Houston's current status. He also tries to squash altercations with T.I. for using the term 'King of the South' with his lyrics "If them niggaz come together you know how much paper we could see?". Houston hip hop artists Lil' Flip, Slim Thug, & Z-Ro are also mentioned. He also talked about how Paul Wall & Chamillionaire breaking up and going separate ways. Moreover, he raps about Lil Keke and his new album with Swishahouse. The video is given a Godfather theme. Phalon Anton Alexander, (born April 15, 1974), professionally known as Jazze Pha ( ), is an American record producer, singer, songwriter and rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Sho'nuff Records, to which American R&B singer-songwriter Ciara was signed. Early life Jazze Pha was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. His father is James Alexander, bassist for the Bar-Kays, an influential group on the Memphis soul scene in the 1960s. His mother, Denise Williams, is an accomplished singer, having worked with everyone from Earth, Wind, and Fire to Barbra Streisand. Rap-A-Lot is a hip hop record label co-founded by James Prince and Cliff Blodget in 1986. Smoke-a-Lot Records is a subsidiary. Rap-A-Lot was first distributed by A&M Records with the release of Raheem's 1988 debut ''The Vigilante''. The label was distributed through the 1990s by EMI's Priority Records (1991–1994), Noo Trybe Records (1994-1998), and Virgin Records (1998–2002). Chopped and screwed (also called screwed and chopped or slowed and throwed) is a music genre and technique of remixing music that involves slowing down the tempo and deejaying. It developed in the Houston hip hop scene in the early 1990s by DJ Screw. The screwed technique involves slowing the tempo of a song down to 60 and 70 quarter-note beats per minute and applying techniques such as skipping beats, record scratching, stop-time and affecting portions of the original composition to create a "chopped-up" version of the song.
