Pierre Larrouturou
Pierre Larrouturou (born 1964) is a French economist and politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. He previously was a regional councilor of the Île-de-France. Political career Early beginnings While still a consultant for the accounting firm Arthur Andersen, Larrouturou first entered national politics in 1993 by issuing a widely discussed 54-page manifesto advocating for a switch to a four-day workweek in France. Member of the European Parliament, 2019–present In parliament, Larrouturou has been serving on the Committee on Budgets since 2019. In this capacity, he was his parliamentary group’s rapporteur on the budget of the European Union for 2021. Socialist Party (France)
The Socialist Party (french: Parti socialiste , PS) is a French centre-left and social-democratic political party. It holds pro-European views. The PS was for decades the largest party of the " French Left" and used to be one of the two major political parties in the French Fifth Republic, along with The Republicans. It replaced the earlier French Section of the Workers' International in 1969 and is currently led by First Secretary Olivier Faure. The Budget of the European Union (EU budget) is used to finance EU funding programmes (such as the European Regional Development Fund, the Cohesion Fund, Horizon Europe, or Erasmus+) and other expenditure at the European level. European Union Financial Transaction Tax
The European Union financial transaction tax (EU FTT) is a proposal made by the European Commission to introduce a financial transaction tax (FTT) within some of the member states of the European Union (EU). The proposed EU financial transaction tax would be separate from a Bank tax#1. Financial stability contribution .28FSC.29.2C or .22Bank tax.22, bank levy, or a resolution levy, which some governments are proposing to impose on banks to insure them against the costs of any future bailouts. It was initially claimed the tax, as proposed, would raise 57 billion Euros per year if implemented across the entire EU. The first proposal for the whole of the EU was presented by the European Commission in 2011 but did not reach a majority. Instead, the Council of the European Union authorized member states who wished to introduce the EU FTT to use enhanced co-operation.
