France is a European Parliament constituency for the elections to the European Parliament covering the member state of the European Union France. It is currently represented by 81 Member of the European Parliament, Members of the European Parliament. From 2004 until 2019, eight European Parliament constituencies in France, subdivided constituencies represented France in the European Parliament. 2014 European Parliament Election In France
The 2014 European Parliament election in France for the election of the 8th delegation from France to the European Parliament took place on 24 May 2014 in the overseas territories of France, and on 25 May 2014 in metropolitan France. The number of seats allocated to France increased to 74, compared to 72 in the 2009 election, as a result of the 2013 reapportionment of seats in the European Parliament. The members of the European Parliament for France, 2014–2019 were elected. This was the first time the National Front won first place in a European parliament election. The French Communist Party (, , PCF) is a Communism, communist list of political parties in France, party in France. The PCF is a member of the Party of the European Left, and its Member of the European Parliament, MEPs sit with The Left in the European Parliament – GUE/NGL group. La France Insoumise (LFI or FI; , ) is a left-wing political party in France. It was launched in 2016 by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, then a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and former co-president of the Left Party (PG). It aims to implement the eco-socialist and democratic socialist programme (). The party utilises the lower case Greek letter phi as its logotype. The party nominated Mélenchon as its candidate for the 2017 French presidential election. The Democratic Movement (, ; MoDem ) is a centre to centre-right political party in France, whose main ideological trends are liberalism and Christian democracy, and that is characterised by a strong pro-Europeanist stance. MoDem was established by François Bayrou to succeed the Union for French Democracy (UDF) and contest the 2007 legislative election, after his strong showing in the 2007 presidential election.
