Physoglenidae
Physoglenidae is a family of araneomorph spiders first described by Alexander Petrunkevitch in 1928 as a subfamily of Pholcidae. It was later moved to Synotaxidae until a study in 2016 showed that they formed a distinct clade. ''Meringa'' is a genus of araneomorph spiders in the family Physoglenidae that is endemic to New Zealand. It was first described by Raymond Robert Forster in 1990. Originally placed with the Synotaxidae, it was moved to the Physoglenidae in 2017. Zeatupua
''Zeatupua'' is a monotypic genus of araneomorph spiders in the family Physoglenidae containing the single species, ''Zeatupua forsteri''. It was first described by Fitzgerald & Sirvid in 2009, and is found in New Zealand. Taxonomy This species was first described in 2009 by Mike Fitzgerald and Phil Sirvid from male specimens. Originally placed with the Synotaxidae, it was moved to the Physoglenidae in 2017. The holotype is stored in Te Papa Museum under registration number AS.001487. Description The male is recorded at 3.07mm in length. This species has a pale orange brown carapace and legs. The abdomen is straw coloured with dark shading and pale markings dorsally. Distribution This species is only known from Wellington, New Zealand. Conservation status Under the New Zealand Threat Classification System, this species is listed as "Data Deficient" with the qualifiers of "Data Poor: Size" and "Data Poor: Trend". Paratupua
''Paratupua'' is a monotypic genus of araneomorph spiders in the family Physoglenidae found in Victoria, Australia. It contains the single species, ''Paratupua grayi''. Though it's sometimes misspelled ''Paratupa'', the correct spelling is "Paratupua". Both genus and species were first described by Norman I. Platnick in 1990, who placed it with the Synotaxidae. In 2017, it was moved to the Physoglenidae. ''Chileotaxus'' is a monotypic genus of Chilean araneomorph spiders in the family Physoglenidae, containing the single species ''Chileotaxus sans''. It was first described by Norman I. Platnick in 1990, and is found in Chile. Originally placed with the Synotaxidae, it was moved to the Physoglenidae in 1973. The generic name is a contraction of "Chilean Synotaxus", and the specific name is an arbitrary combination of letters. Description ''Chileotaxus sans'' is a green spider with long, spineless legs and a triangular abdomen. Adults range from 1.9 to 2.3 mm in length. The carapace is longer than it is wide, and narrows towards the anterior end. The eyes cover almost the entire width of the head region. The MOQ forms a trapezium which is wider towards the rear, and with the AME closer together than the PME.
