Throughout the history of gloved boxing styles, techniques and strategies have changed to varying degrees. Ring conditions, promoter demands, teaching techniques, and the influence of successful boxers are some of the reasons styles and strategies have fluctuated. The four main categories Every boxer falls into one of the four boxing styles: In-Fighter, Out-Boxer, Slugger and Boxer-Puncher. While there are many different sub-categories for these styles, all boxers can be classified by one of the four main styles. The in-fighter The in-fighter (inside fighter, pressure fighter, swarmer, crowder) fights very aggressively and in close-quarters. This style involves bombarding the opponent with heavy attacks to prevent effective counters and wearing down the opponent's defenses by attrition. Boxing
Boxing is a combat sport and martial art. Taking place in a boxing ring, it involves two people – usually wearing protective equipment, such as boxing glove, protective gloves, hand wraps, and mouthguards – throwing Punch (combat), punches at each other for a predetermined amount of time. Although the term "boxing" is commonly attributed to western boxing, in which only fists are involved, it has developed in different ways in different geographical areas and cultures of the World. Donovan Ruddock
Donovan "Razor" Ruddock (born December 21, 1963) is a Jamaican-born Canadian former professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 2001 and in 2015. He is known for his two fights against Mike Tyson in 1991, a fight against Lennox Lewis in 1992, and a fight with Tommy Morrison in 1995. Ruddock was also known for his exceptionally heavy punching; some of the best examples of his left hand and overall power were his knockouts of former WBA heavyweight champions James Smith in 1989, Michael Dokes in 1990, and Greg Page in 1992. Aaron Pryor (October 20, 1955 – October 9, 2016) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1976 to 1990. He was a two-time light welterweight world champion, having held the WBA title from 1980 to 1983, and the IBF title from 1984 to 1985. Additionally, he held the '' Ring'' magazine title from 1980 to 1983, and the lineal title from 1983 to 1986. In 1982, the Boxing Writers Association of America named Pryor as their Fighter of the Year. Bobo Olson
Carl "Bobo" Olson (July 11, 1928 – January 16, 2002) was an American boxing, boxer. He was the World Middleweight champion between October 1953 and December 1955, the longest reign of any champion in that division during the 1950s. His nickname was based on his younger sister's mispronunciation of "brother". Early years Olson was born in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii to a Portuguese people, Portuguese mother and a Swedish father, hence his other nickname "The Hawaiian Swede". Battling Nelson
Oscar Matthew "Battling" Nelson (June 5, 1882 – February 7, 1954), was a Danish-American professional boxer who held the World Lightweight championship. He was also nicknamed "the Durable Dane". Personal history Nelson was born Oscar Mathæus Nielsen in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 5, 1882. He emigrated to the United States the following year and was raised in Hegewisch, a neighborhood on the Southeast side of Chicago. In 1913, he married Fay King, a cartoonist who did his portrait for Nelson's 1911 guide ''The Wonders of the Yellowstone National Park''. In 1916, they had a very public divorce. Julio Cesar Martínez Aguilar (born 27 January 1995) is a Mexican professional boxer who has held the World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight title from 2019 to 2024.
