Petr Skoumal
Petr Skoumal (7 March 1938 – 28 September 2014) was a Czechs, Czech musician and composer. He is best known as a composer of music for films and theatre performances. Biography Petr Skoumal was born on 7 March 1938 in Prague to Aloys Skoumal and Hana Skoumalová, both notable traslators from English. He learned to play the piano from childhood and also received lessons in London when his father worked there as a cultural attaché after World War II. Because he had a small finger span, he was not accepted to study piano at university. He studied conducting at the Prague Conservatory and then choir management at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. After his studies, he worked on stage music, especially at The Drama Club in Prague, where he was a director and musical dramaturg. Maxipes Fík
Maxipes Fík (literally " Fig the Maxidog") is a Czechoslovak children's TV animated series. The main character is a large dog. It was one of the most popular series made for the children's television programme Večerníček. The first series was shot in 1975. The author and screenwriter was Rudolf Čechura and the animator was Jiří Šalamoun. Music was composed by Petr Skoumal, the voice was narrated by actor Josef Dvořák. The second series was launched in 1982. In memory of Maxipes Fík his birthday is celebrated in Kadaň; Maxipes Fík was born in Ahníkov, a bulldozed village nearby. Both Rudolf Čechura and Josef Dvořák also lived in the area. Etc... is a Czech rock band from Prague, formed in 1974 by singer and guitarist Vladimír Mišík. Vladimír Mišík
Vladimír Mišík (born 8 March 1947) is a Czech musician and politician. He is the founder or co-founder of the bands The Matadors, Matadors, Blue Effect, and Etc (band), Etc.... Career Music Mišík founded his first band, Uragán, as a teenager. Later, he became the lead singer of Komety, where he met Radim Hladík, with whom he also played in Fontána (later known as The Matadors (band), The Matadors). He also sang in Karel Duba's band. In 1968, Mišík and Hladík co-founded the band Blue Effect. Michal Prokop
Michal Prokop (born 1 April 1981 in Prague) is a Czech professional BMX and Mountain Bike Four-cross rider. Started his sporting career at the age of five, Prokop has claimed two World Cup circuit gold medals, and three World Championship jerseys (2003, 2004, and 2011) in the men's elite category, emerging him as one of the most successful fourcross riders in the sport's brief history. In BMX racing, Prokop has been named an eight-time Czech champion, and collected three gold medals to his career resume at the European Championships. Moreover, he mounted numerous top-three finishes at the UCI BMX World Championships, including his men's cruiser bronze medal in 2002. Luboš Pospíšil (born 6 September 1950) is a Czech singer-songwriter and guitarist, and the frontman of the pop-rock band 5P. In 1969, he was a founding member of C&K Vocal, and since he left the band, he has released twelve solo albums. Between 1988 and 1990, he was a member of Blue Effect. Career Pospíšil began his musical career in 1969 as a co-founder of the group C&K Vocal, together with Jiří Cerha, Ladislav Kantor, Petra Janů, Helena Arnetová, Milena Červená, and Karel Klos. Theatre In Dlouhá Street
Theatre in Dlouhá Street () is a repertoire theatre established in 1996 with financing from the Municipality of Prague. History The building was originally constructed in 1929 in Old Town Prague, with art deco designs by Emil Sušický and Pavlo Sydow. Designed for operetta performances, its opening night would be December 4, 1929 and would operate until its closure by Nazi authorities in 1944. After the war, it reopened as a soviet political education center for children. This would end with the velvet revolution, it would reopen under its current program in 1996. In 2002, floods from the Vltava river damaged the theatre requiring reconstruction and allowing for modernization, some original features from the 1930s remain. ''Kdyby prase mělo křídla'' (If the Pig Had Wings) is an album for children. It includes songs by Petr Skoumal, based on rhymes by Emanuel Frynta and Pavel Šrut. The album was recorded in the studio of Petr Skoumal in 1990-1991 and produced by Bonton in 1991. A remastered version was released by Supraphon in March 2012. The title song is based on a rhyme "If Pigs Could Fly" by James Reeves. In 1996, Petr Skoumal together with stage director Jan Borna and actor Jan Vondráček turned the album into a performance staged in Divadlo v Dlouhé. Pavel Šrut
Pavel Šrut (3 April 1940, in Prague – 20 April 2018) was a Czech poet and writer. Career After graduating in 1967 from the Charles University in Prague where he studied English and Spanish, Šrut worked as an editor in a publishing house. Since 1972, he was a freelance writer and translator. Together with poets such as Ivan Wernisch and Petr Kabeš, Šrut belonged to the famous generation of Czech poets who published their first books in the 1960s. Like so many of his contemporaries, he was not allowed to publish books of his poems during the Soviet occupation, except for books for children. His work was often done together with an award-winning Czech painter and illustrator Galina Miklínová (e. g.
