Petersfield Town Football Club are an English football club based in Petersfield, Hampshire, England. The club is affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association, and is a FA Charter Standard Community Club. They are currently members of the Wessex Football League in Division One. They play their home fixtures at The Southdowns Builders Ltd Stadium. Also host to local Charity Football team Fundraising FC History The club was founded by Peter De-Sisto in 1993 after the demise of Petersfield United (founded 1889). The previous club folded after being denied permission to switch from the Isthmian League to the Wessex League and had serious debts. The newly formed club took their place in the first Division (Now Premier Division) of the Wessex League, under the management of former England player Gary Stevens. Guy Madjo
Guy Bertrand Madjo (born 1 June 1984) is a Cameroonian former footballer who played as a striker. Following a spell playing football in his native Cameroon, Madjo moved to England and played for Petersfield Town of the Wessex League. He attracted the attention of Bristol City, signing for the club in August 2005. Having only made a handful of appearances for Bristol City, Madjo joined Forest Green Rovers on loan in November 2005, making the loan move permanent in January 2006. At the end of 2005–06 season, he was released by Forest Green after failing to agree terms on a new contract. He ultimately signed for newly promoted Conference National club Stafford Rangers on a free transfer in August 2006, spending a season with the club. Wessex Football League
The Wessex Football League is an English association football league formed in 1986, with its premier division currently at the fifth step of the National League System, or the ninth tier of the overall English football league system. The participating clubs are mainly based in Hampshire and Dorset but the league also encompasses clubs from adjoining counties such as Wiltshire, Berkshire, and the Isle of Wight. In 2004, it absorbed most of the clubs from its feeder league, the Hampshire League, which formed a new Division Two and Division Three. In 2006 the divisions were renamed as the Premier Division and Divisions One and Two. At the end of the 2006–07 season, Division Two was disbanded, and most of the clubs formed a new Hampshire Premier League. Petersfield
Petersfield is a market town and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is north of Portsmouth. The town has its own railway station on the Portsmouth Direct line, the mainline rail link connecting Portsmouth and London. Situated below the northern slopes of the South Downs, Petersfield lies wholly within the South Downs National Park. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The Football Association Challenge Trophy, commonly known as the FA Trophy, is a men's football knockout cup competition run by and named after the English Football Association and competed for primarily by semi-professional teams. The competition was instigated in 1969 to cater to those non-league clubs that paid their players and were therefore not eligible to enter the FA Amateur Cup. Eligibility rules have changed over time, but from 2008 onwards the competition has been open to clubs playing in Steps 1–4 of the National League System, equivalent to tiers 5–8 of the overall English football league system. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). The 2013–14 Wessex Football League (known as the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) for sponsorship reasons) was the 28th season of the Wessex Football League since its establishment in 1986. The league consisted of two divisions: the Premier Division and Division One. Maik Taylor
Maik Stefan Taylor (born 4 September 1971) is a former Northern Ireland international football goalkeeper and, since July 2022, goalkeeping coach at Birmingham City. At club level, Taylor played non-League football for Petersfield Town, Basingstoke Town and Farnborough Town before moving into the Football League with Barnet. He went on to play for Southampton, Fulham, Birmingham City, where he spent eight years before his release at the end of the 2010–11 season, Leeds United and Millwall. In international football, he played for Northern Ireland, qualifying for that country through his British passport which at that time, as he was born abroad, entitled him to play for any of the Home Nations.
