Peter Horan (1926 – 17 October 2010) was an Irish flute and fiddle player from Killavil, County Sligo County Sligo ( , ) is a Counties of Ireland, county in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. He was called "one of the country's best known flute and fiddle players" when he died. Career For nearly 30 years he performed as a duet with fiddler Fred Finn. He was a brother-in-law of Dick Brennan, a noted south Sligo fiddle player of an earlier era. Fred Finn (1919, Killavil, County Sligo – January 1986) was a popular musician in South Sligo, in western Ireland, known for his wit and humour as well as his fiddle playing. Sliabh Luachra
Sliabh Luachra (), sometimes anglicised Slieve Logher, is an upland region in Munster, Ireland. It is on the borders of counties County Cork, Cork, County Kerry, Kerry and County Limerick, Limerick, and bounded to the south by the Munster Blackwater, River Blackwater. It includes the Mullaghareirk Mountains. Music and Culture Sliabh Luachra has produced several Irish poets: Geoffrey Fionn Dálaigh, Aogán Ó Rathaille, and the charismatic Gaelic poet Eoghan Rua Ó Súilleabháin (1748–1784). This latter poet's many exploits live on in local folklore, as do his poetry and aislings (dramatic descriptions). His solo set dance, "Rodney's Glory," was composed in 1783 and follows his adventures after being forced to join the British Navy. The Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Dublin GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Dublin and the Dublin county teams. Matt Molloy
Matt Molloy (born 12 January 1947) is an Irish musician, from a region known for producing talented flautists. As a child, he began playing the flute and won the All-Ireland Flute Championship at nineteen. Considered one of the most brilliant Irish musicians, his style that adapts piping techniques to the flute has influenced many contemporary Irish flute players. During the 1970s, Molloy was a member of The Bothy Band and its successor, the re-founded Planxty. He joined The Chieftains in 1979, replacing Michael Tubridy. Over the course of his career, Molloy has worked with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Paul Brady, Tommy Peoples, Micheál Ó Súilleabháin and Dónal Lunny.
