Peta Stephens
Peta Stephens (born 15 April 1978) is a former Australian netball player. Between 1997 and 2009, Stephens played for Queensland Firebirds. She played for Firebirds in both the Commonwealth Bank Trophy and ANZ Championship eras. She captained Firebirds between 2006 and 2009. She also played with the Australian Institute of Sport, Canterbury Flames and Canterbury Tactix. Playing career Early years Between 1995 and 2000, Stephens represented Queensland in the Australian National Netball Championships at under-19, under-21 and Open levels. Between 1997 and 1998, she played for the Australian Institute of Sport. Between 1996 and 1999, she also featured in Australia under-21 squads. Canterbury Flames were a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury. Between 1998 and 2007 they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Netball Queensland is the governing body for netball in Queensland. It is affiliated to Netball Australia. It is responsible for organizing and managing Queensland Firebirds who compete in Suncorp Super Netball. It is also responsible for organizing and managing the HART Sapphire Series as well as numerous other leagues and competitions for junior and youth teams. Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth nations. A common misunderstanding of the sport's origins has resulted in the mistaken belief that netball was created to prevent women from playing basketball. However, the sport is the result of Clara Baer's misinterpretation of its rules. Melbourne Phoenix were an Australian netball team that represented Netball Victoria in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Between 1997 and 2007, together with Melbourne Kestrels, they were one of two teams to represent Netball Victoria in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era. Phoenix were the inaugural CBT champions and went on to become the competition's most successful team, winning five premierships. 2010 ANZ Championship Season
The 2010 ANZ Championship season was the third season of the ANZ Championship. The 2010 season began on 20 March and concluded on 11 July. New South Wales Swifts went through the entire regular season home and away undefeated, winning 13 consecutive matches and finishing as minor premiers. They were the first team in the history of the ANZ Championship to do this.
