Pernell (healer)
Pernell (floruit 1350), was an English healer. She assisted her physician husband, Thomas de Rasyn in their professional practice. The couple was accused of causing the death of a miller in 1350, but was freed by a royal pardon and allowed to continue their practice. Pernell Davis
Pernell Davis (born May 19, 1976) is an American former professional football defensive tackle who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles for one season. He attended West End High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He recorded 80 tackles and eight sacks as a junior, and earned all-state honors. He suffered an ankle injury during his senior year, which hampered him throughout the season. Despite this, he earned ''Parade'' All-America honors in 1995. Following graduation, he played college football for the University of Alabama at Birmingham on a scholarship. Davis was selected by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL draft and played in two games for the team in 1999. He was allocated to the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europa in 2000, but suffered a broken leg in the final regular season game against Berlin Thunder. Davis missed the entire 2000 season. Pernell McPhee
Pernell McPhee (born December 17, 1988) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He is currently an assistant coach at the University of Michigan. He played college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft. He has also played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins. Early life Pernell attended Pahokee High School, where he was teammates with Dwight Bentley and Janoris Jenkins. McPhee only played one year of high school football and started on both sides of the ball, playing offensive tackle and defensive end. He registered 75 total tackles, including 35 tackles for loss and 19 quarterback sacks to go along with 12 forced fumbles as a senior. Pernell Elven Roberts Jr. (May 18, 1928 – January 24, 2010) was an American stage, film, and television actor, activist, and singer. In addition to guest-starring in over 60 television series, he was best known for his roles as Ben Cartwright's eldest son Adam Cartwright on the Western television series ''Bonanza'' (1959–1965), and as chief surgeon John McIntyre, the title character on '' Trapper John, M.D.'' (1979–1986). Roberts was also known for his lifelong activism, which included participation in the Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965 and pressuring NBC to refrain from hiring White people to portray minority characters. Pernell Whitaker Sr. (January 2, 1964 – July 14, 2019) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1984 to 2001, and subsequently worked as a boxing trainer. He was a four-weight world champion, having won titles at lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, and light middleweight; the undisputed lightweight title; and the lineal lightweight and welterweight titles. In 1989, Whitaker was named Fighter of the Year by ''The Ring'' magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America. He currently holds the longest unified lightweight championship reign in boxing history at six title defenses. Whitaker is generally regarded as one of the greatest defensive boxers of all-time. LeRoy Pernell is a former dean of the Northern Illinois University College of Law and Florida A&M University College of Law. Legal career Pernell entered academia in 1975 when he joined the faculty of Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He also served as vice provost of the office of minority affairs at Ohio State University from 1994 to 1997. Ruby Beatrice Pernell (1917 – February 4, 2001) was a professor of social work who served as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and Case Western Reserve University.
