Peerless Sports Club (formerly known as Peerless FC), or simply Peerless, is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1993, the club is owned by Peerless Group and currently competes in the Calcutta Premier Division A, the top tier state football league of West Bengal. Peerless is widely regarded as "Giant killer" in Kolkata football. The club has refused to take part in the I-League 2nd Division owing to financial matters. After the three Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC, SC East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting, Peerless is considered as the strongest side from the city of joy. The Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK; ), commonly known as the Salt Lake Stadium, is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium located in Bidhannagar, with current capacity of 85,000 spectators. Named after Swami Vivekananda, the stadium forms the home ground for multiple football clubs, most notably ATK Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan. It is the fifth largest sports stadium in Asia by seating capacity. Before its renovation in 2011, it was the largest football stadium in the world, having a seating capacity of 120,000. The Rabindra Sarobar Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Lake Gardens, Kolkata, India. It is used for football matches and it serves as the home of many Calcutta Football League matches. Jamshid Nassiri (born 15 March 1959 in Khorramshahr) is an Iranian-Indian football manager and former footballer, who is currently the technical director of Calcutta Premier Division side Peerless. Nassiri is known for forming a successful attacking duo with Majid Bishkar in the 80's. He was one of the most expensive player in Indian football during his playing days and is the first foreign player to score 100 goals across several tournaments in the country. The 2021 Calcutta Football League Premier Division A was the 123rd season of the top state-level football league of West Bengal. It was held between mid-August and November of 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to cancel Calcutta League last season, but was played this year. Changes from last season Rules and regulations *Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic in West Bengal, the tournament format is shortened by adopting a league-cum-knockout format. The 14 participating teams would be divided into two groups and each team would play against all the other teams in their respective groups once. The top three teams from each group would earn a direct quarter final berth. The remaining four teams from each group would play against each other once for the last two quarter final spots. Jahar Das
Jahar Das (born 5 April 1947) is a former Indian football player and current manager. During his playing days, Das appeared with Mohun Bagan in the seventies. Playing career Born in West Bengal, Das had played for Port Commissioner and Mohun Bagan as a striker. Coaching career Das began his coaching career managing the West Bengal football team in the Santosh Trophy. He then managed Bengal Mumbai FC from 2002 to 2003. He also had a spell as coach of the India under-17 side. In 2005, after the departure of Sukhwinder Singh, Das was reportedly one of the candidates put up for the vacant India senior head coach position. The position was eventually given to Syed Nayeemuddin. On 7 December 2005, Das was given the head coaching job at National Football League side, Mohun Bagan. Anthony Wolfe
Anthony Wolfe CM (born 23 December 1983) is a Trinidadian professional footballer who plays as a forward. He represented the Trinidad and Tobago national team on 35 occasions. As a member of the squad that competed at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, he was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Gold Class), the second highest state decoration of Trinidad and Tobago. Club career Wolfe started his career at North East Stars, with whom he clinched the league title in 2004, scoring eight goals for them in the process.
