Pedaya () is a moshav in central Israel. Located in the Shephelah near Mazkeret Batya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Gezer Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Pedaya was founded in 1951 for Jewish immigrants from Iraq. Its name is taken from 2 Kings 23:36: Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zebudah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. Gezer Regional Council () is a regional council in the Shephelah region of the Central District of Israel. The council's headquarters are located in the community settlement of Beit Hashmonai. Yuval Raphael
Yuval Raphael (; born 5 November 2000) is an Israeli singer. Having won the eleventh season of the singing competition ''HaKokhav HaBa'', she represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song "New Day Will Rise", finishing in second place. Biography Raphael is the niece of businesswoman and comes from Ra'anana, Israel. She was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Pedaya. She spent three years of her childhood in Geneva, Switzerland. As a child, she listened to rock bands such as Led Zeppelin and the Scorpions, and singers such as Beyoncé and Céline Dion. After finishing high school, Yuval served as a checkpoint combat soldier in the Jerusalem area with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). She began singing professionally in 2024. The history of the Jews in Iraq (, ', ; , ) is documented from the time of the Babylonian captivity . Iraqi Jews constitute one of the world's oldest and most historically significant Jewish communities. The Jewish community in Mesopotamia, known in Jewish sources as "Babylonia", traces its origins to the early sixth century BCE, when a large number of Judeans from the defeated Kingdom of Judah were exiled to Babylon in several waves by the Neo-Babylonian Empire. A moshav (, plural ', "settlement, village") is a type of Israeli village or town or Jewish settlement, in particular a type of cooperative agricultural community of individual farms settler, pioneered by the Labour Zionists between 1904 and 1914, during what is known as the Second Aliyah, second wave of ''aliyah''. A resident or a member of a moshav can be called a "moshavnik" (). There is an umbrella organization, the Moshavim Movement. The moshavim are similar to kibbutzim with an emphasis on communitarian, individualist labour. Jehoiakim, also sometimes spelled Jehoikim was the eighteenth and antepenultimate King of Judah from 609 to 598 BC. He was the second son of King Josiah () and Zebidah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. His birth name was Eliakim.
