Yuval Raphael
Yuval Raphael (; born 5 November 2000) is an Israeli singer. Having won the eleventh season of the singing competition ''HaKokhav HaBa'', she represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song "New Day Will Rise", finishing in second place. Biography Raphael is the niece of businesswoman and comes from Ra'anana, Israel. She was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Pedaya. She spent three years of her childhood in Geneva, Switzerland. As a child, she listened to rock bands such as Led Zeppelin and the Scorpions, and singers such as Beyoncé and Céline Dion. After finishing high school, Yuval served as a checkpoint combat soldier in the Jerusalem area with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). She began singing professionally in 2024. Raphael was attending the Nova Sukkot Gathering music festival in Re'im on 7 October 2023, when Hamas militants attacked the festival. ''HaKokhav HaBa'' (; ) is an Israeli interactive reality singing competition, created by Keshet Media Group and broadcast on Channel 2 (from 2013 to 2017) and on Channel 12 (since 2017). It is the basis of the ''Rising Star'' franchise. The show is a continuation of (; ) which featured aspiring singers competing for a winning title. The program's format combines the internet, smartphone and television and is filmed live. Between 2015 and 2020, and again since 2024, the show has been used to select for the Eurovision Song Contest. Be'eri () is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the north-western Negev desert near the eastern border with the Gaza Strip, it falls under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. In it had a population of . During the massacre in Be'eri by Hamas in the October 7 attack, over 130 people were killed. The superfood Mankai was developed by the kibbutz. On 7 October 2023, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian nationalism, Palestinian nationalist political organization Hamas, initiated a October 7 attacks, sudden attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip.
