Pavlo Palisa
Pavlo Serhiiovych Palisa ( uk, Павло Сергійович Паліса) is a Ukrainian soldier, colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a combatant in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Biography In 2007, Palisa graduated from the Lviv Institute of Land Forces of the Lviv Polytechnic, Lviv Polytechnic National University (now the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy), and in 2019, he graduated from the Command and Staff Institute of the National Defense University of Ukraine. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, full-scale Russian invasion, he interrupted his studies at the United States Army Command and General Staff College to join the defense of Ukraine. In June 2022, the American educational institution issued a diploma to Pavlo, who was then commanding the 5th Assault Brigade (Ukraine), 5th Assault Regiment, to loud applause. 5th Assault Brigade (Ukraine)
The 5th Separate Assault Brigade () is a brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces formed in 2022 as a response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. History The 5th Assault Brigade was founded by Pavlo Palisa. The Brigade is closely affiliated with the 58th Motorized Brigade, as Palisa previously served in the brigade and was originally slated to become its deputy commander. Under the command of Colonel Palisa, the 5th Assault Regiment is part of the Operational Command North. In October 2022, the regiment fought in the Battle of Bakhmut, alongside Ukrainian naval infantry and national guard forces. The 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yar () is a formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. In October 2022 American military correspondent David Axe described the formation as "one of the most brutally effective" of Ukraine’s front-line brigades. History The brigade traces its history back to the 93rd Guards Rifle Division of the Soviet Union's Red Army, formed at Valuki in April 1943 from 13th Guards and 92nd Rifle Brigades. The division fought at Kursk, Kharkiv, Budapest, and Prague, and was serving with the 53rd Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front in May 1945. After a period as a 35th Guards Mechanized Division, and then 35th Guards Motor Rifle Division 1957–65, the division was redesignated as the 93rd Guards Motor Rifle Division in 1965. The United States Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC or, obsolete, USACGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, is a graduate school for United States Army and sister service officers, interagency representatives, and international military officers. The college was established in 1881 by William Tecumseh Sherman as the School of Application for Infantry and Cavalry (later simply the Infantry and Cavalry School), a training school for infantry and cavalry officers. In 1907 it changed its title to the School of the Line.
