Patrik Hersley
Patrik Hersley (born June 23, 1986) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman. Playing career Being a native of Malmö and beginning his career in Malmö Redhawks, at the time regularly oscillating between Elitserien ( SHL) and HockeyAllsvenskan, Hersley was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round as the 139th player in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Hersley was traded from the Kings to the Philadelphia Flyers, along with Ned Lukacevic, in exchange for Denis Gauthier and a second round choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft on July 1, 2008. On September 23, 2009, Hersley was traded by the Flyers to the Nashville Predators for future considerations. After two years in the North American ice hockey scene and another two back with the Redhawks in Malmö, as well as a brief stint with Modo Hockey, Hersley was signed to a two-year extension contract during the 2011–12 season with Leksands IF on March 13, 2012. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three forwards and a goaltender on the ice. 2005 NHL Entry Draft
The 2005 NHL Entry Draft was the 43rd NHL Entry Draft. Originally scheduled to be held on June 25, the 2004–05 NHL lockout led to the draft being postponed to July 30. Special procedures were required to determine the order of picks, because the previous season had been cancelled due to the lockout. The first overall pick was won in a lottery by the Pittsburgh Penguins, who selected Sidney Crosby. Venue The draft was originally scheduled to be held on June 25, hosted by the Ottawa Senators at the Corel Centre (their home rink). However, the 2004–05 NHL lockout was still ongoing, causing the draft to be postponed. The lockout ended on 22 July with the approval of a new NHL collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The CBA set the new date of the draft as 30 July. The Corel Centre was still available but cannot be used on such short notice. The draft was instead held at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa, Ontario. Jan Huokko
Jan Huokko (born June 11, 1974) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman. He ended his ice hockey career as head coach for Kramfors-Alliansen of the Swedish Division 2 2012/2013. Örebro HK is a Swedish ice hockey club located in Örebro. The team is currently playing in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL; formerly Elitserien), the top tier of Swedish ice hockey, since the 2013–14 season. The team's home arena is Behrn Arena, which seats 5,500 spectators. History The club was formed in 1990 as ''HC Örebro 90''. While Örebro IK (ÖIK) existed, HC Örebro 90's goal was to make sure that ice hockey players who didn't get a spot in Örebro IK could still play ice hockey in Örebro. Following ÖIK's bankruptcy in 1999, several ÖIK players moved to HC Örebro 90. The club changed its name to Örebro HK in 2005. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three wickets with three consecutive deliveries. The Nashville Predators (commonly referred to as the Preds) are a professional ice hockey team based in Nashville, Tennessee.
