Patrick Roy Trophy
The Patrick Roy Trophy (French: ''Trophée Patrick-Roy'') is awarded annually by the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) to the goaltender deemed "Goaltender of the Year". The trophy was first created for the 2023–24 season, and is named after Patrick Roy, who played three seasons in the QMJHL from 1982 to 1985 with the Granby Bisons, before a storied career in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche. In order to be eligible, a goaltender must have appeared in 40% of the minutes played by their team during the season. The trophy is distinct from the QMJHL's longstanding Jacques Plante Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the QMJHL goaltender with the best goals against average. List Of Canadian Hockey League Awards
The Canadian Hockey League awards sixteen annual trophies for accomplishments during the regular and at the Memorial Cup to top individuals and teams among its three member leagues. The Memorial Cup is the top award for the championship team at the end-of-season Memorial Cup tournament. A set of five individual awards are given for performance at the tournament. In the regular season, Canadian Hockey League also presents ten annual awards. Western Hockey League
The Western Hockey League (WHL) is a junior ice hockey league based in Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. Del Wilson Trophy
The Del Wilson Trophy is presented annually to the Western Hockey League's goaltender judged to be the best at his position. The award is named after Del Wilson for his many years of service to both the Regina Pats and the League. Wilson was an owner, Governor, and General Manager of the Pats and served 6 years as Chairman of the Board of the WHL. Jim Rutherford Trophy
The Jim Rutherford Trophy is given to the best goaltender in the Ontario Hockey League, as voted by coaches and general managers. The winner is also nominated for the CHL Goaltender of the Year award. From 1988 until 2019, the award was named the Ontario Hockey League Goaltender of the Year Award. On May 19, 2020, the OHL unveiled the Jim Rutherford Trophy, in honour of former goaltender Jim Rutherford. Rutherford played with the Hamilton Red Wings from 1967-69 before playing in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings from 1970-83. Following his playing career, Rutherford joined the Windsor Compuware Spitfires as the general manager of the team from 1984-88, winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup in the 1987-88 season. Halifax Mooseheads
The Halifax Mooseheads are a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Moncton Wildcats
The Moncton Wildcats are a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) based in Moncton, New Brunswick. The 2024–25 QMJHL season was the 56th season of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. The league played a 64-game regular season reduced from 68 games which began on September 20, 2024, and ended on March 22, 2025. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA), also known as average goals against (AGA), is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiplying that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification has been used by the National Hockey League (NHL) since 1965 and by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 1990.
