Passos No Escuro
''Passos no Escuro'' ( Portuguese for "''Footsteps in the Dark''") is an extended play by the Brazilian rock band Zero. It came out in 1985 by EMI. The EP was a massive commercial success, to the point of receiving a Gold Certification by Pro-Música Brasil, and spawned the hit singles "Formosa" and "Agora Eu Sei"; the latter counted with a guest appearance by RPM vocalist Paulo Ricardo on backing vocals. Music videos would also be made for those tracks. Zero (Brazilian Band)
Zero (), stylized in all capital letters as ZERØ, is a Brazilian rock band formed in 1983 in São Paulo and based in Rio de Janeiro since 1998, widely considered to be major forerunners of the New Romantic movement in Brazil. History Early years and "Heróis" (1983–1985) Zero arose from Ultimato (formerly known as Lux), an instrumental punk jazz/no wave band formed in São Paulo in 1978 (and renamed as Ultimato in 1981) by Fabio Golfetti, Alberto "Beto" Birger, Cláudio Souza, Gilles Eduar and Nelson Coelho. Future vocalist Guilherme Isnard, who had recently left his former band Voluntários da Pátria, was introduced to Ultimato by his friend Luiz Antônio Ribas, owner of now-defunct independent record company Underground Discos e Artes; Isnard then decided to join the band, and approached its members to begin writing lyrics for their songs. Paulo Ricardo (musician)
Paulo Ricardo Oliveira Nery de Medeiros (born September 23, 1962) is a Brazilian rock singer, musician and songwriter. He was a longtime member of the band RPM as a bass guitarist and vocalist. He has also released several solo albums. Early life In his childhood, Ricardo listened to Nat King Cole and the collections of the famous Big Bands from Toquinho, Vinícius de Morais and Maria Creuza. He joined the band Prisma in the late 1970s and also founded the band Aura in the early 1980s. He rode with a keyboard player Luiz Schiavon, formed Aura, without expressive results. Career In early 1983, Ricardo co-formed the rock band RPM. Their debut album ''Revoluções por Minuto'' was released in 1985. It sold more than 600 thousand copies. The album came with a sound tuned with the best of pop rock of the time (Duran Duran, A-HA, Alphaville) and lyrics with direct influence of progressive rock. Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of music that emerged in late 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Fabio Golfetti (born April 10, 1960) is a Brazilian musician and record producer, famous for his work with progressive/psychedelic rock band Violeta de Outono. He is also the guitarist of Franco-British rock band Gong since 2012. Biography Fabio Golfetti was born in São Paulo in 1960. He grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Gong, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones (with their 1967 album ''Their Satanic Majesties Request'' being one of his favorite releases by them), and as a teenager he learned how to play both the classical and the electric guitar, quoting Daevid Allen, Syd Barrett, Terje Rypdal and Manuel Göttsching as some of his major influences. RPM ("Revoluções por Minuto", "Revolutions per Minute", in Brazilian Portuguese) was a Brazilian pop rock band. It was formed in 1983 by Paulo Ricardo (vocal/bass), Luiz Schiavon (keyboards), Fernando Deluqui (guitar) and Paulo Pagni (drums). History RPM played soft techno-pop with strong, paradoxical influences from progressive rock and European synthpop.
