Parween Sultana
Begum Parween Sultana (born 24 May 1950) is an Indian Hindustani classical singer of the Patiala Gharana. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1976 and the Padma Bhushan in 2014 by the Government of India and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1998. Career Begum Parween Sultana received training from Acharya Chinmoy Lahiri, among others. Begum Parween Sultana started her professional career with Abdul Majid's Assamese Film Morom Trishna. She has sung for Bollywood movies such as '' Gadar'', ''Kudrat'', ''Do Boond Pani,'' and ''Pakeezah'', and several other Assamese films. Recently, she sang the theme song of Vikram Bhatt's 1920. She also sang ''Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna'' for the film ''Kudrat'' in 1981. She has recorded for His Master's Voice, Polydor, Music India, Bharat Records, Auvidis, Magnasound, Sonodisc, and Amigo. Vikram Bhatt is an Indian director, producer, screenwriter and actor. He is best known for directing the ''Raaz'' film series, an Indian horror series produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt and for directing '' Ghulam'' (1998) starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji, which was also produced by Mukesh Bhatt. Pakeezah (; ) is a 1972 Indian musical romantic drama written, directed, and produced by Kamal Amrohi. The film stars Meena Kumari as the eponymous lead, alongside Ashok Kumar and Raaj Kumar. It tells the story of Sahibjaan, a Lucknow-based ''tawaif''. While asleep on a train, Sahibjaan receives a note from a stranger praising her beauty. Later, evacuating from a broken boat, she takes shelter in a tent and finds out its owner, a forest ranger named Salim, wrote the letter. Acharya Chinmoy Lahiri (; 20 March 1920 – 17 August 1984) was an Indian vocalist from Bengal in the Hindustani classical tradition. Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (IAST: Saṅgīta Nāṭaka Akādamī Puraskāra), also known as the Akademi Puraskar, is an award given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama. It is the highest Indian recognition given to people in the field of performing arts.
