Parkdale Avenue is an arterial road located west of downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It runs in a north-south direction between the Kichi Zibi Mikan and Carling Avenue in the Hintonburg and Civic Hospital neighbourhoods. It is an extremely busy road providing access to Tunney's Pasture, the Parkdale Market, the Ottawa Civic Hospital (1053 Carling Avenue), and the Central Experimental Farm. Furthermore, it has direct connections to other major east-west arteries such as Scott Street, Wellington Street West, Gladstone Avenue, and Highway 417. Central Experimental Farm
The Central Experimental Farm (CEF), commonly known as the Experimental Farm, is an agricultural facility, working farm, and research centre of the Science and Technology Branch, formerly the Research Branch, of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. As the name indicates, this farm is centrally located in and now surrounded by the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located on of land, the farm is a National Historic Site of Canada and most buildings are protected and preserved as heritage buildings. The CEF's original intent was to perform scientific research for improvement in agricultural methods and crops. While such research is still being conducted, the park-like atmosphere of the CEF has become an important place of recreation and education for the residents of Ottawa. Downtown Ottawa is the central area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is sometimes referred to as the Central Business District and contains Ottawa's financial district. It is bordered by the Ottawa River to the north, the Rideau Canal to the east, Gloucester Street to the south and Bronson Avenue to the west. OC Transpo is the primary Transit district, public transport agency for the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operating bus rapid transit, light rail, conventional transit bus, bus routes, and door-to-door paratransit in the nation's capital region. Diamond Interchange
A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade separation, grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge. Highway 417 (Ontario)
King's Highway 417, commonly referred to as Highway 417 and as the Queensway through Ottawa, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It connects Ottawa with Montreal via A-40, and is the backbone of the highway system in the National Capital Region. Within Ottawa, it forms part of the Queensway west from Highway 7 to Ottawa Road 174. Highway 417 extends from the Quebec border, near Hawkesbury, to Arnprior, where it continues westward as Highway 17. Gladstone Avenue is a street in Ottawa running east from the Rideau Canal west to Parkdale Avenue. It is a historically residential street running just south of the downtown core, with a number of small houses in the downtown section now converted to commercial uses. Wellington Street West
Wellington Street West (Ottawa Road #36) is a 2.3 km road and shopping area west of downtown Ottawa, Ontario. This road was once connected to - and is often confused with - the prominent Wellington Street in downtown Ottawa. But the two Wellingtons were severed in the 1960s with the expropriation of LeBreton Flats and the demolition of the viaduct that connected them over the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. A small remnant of the old Wellington alignment remains between Bayview Road and the small park, Somerset Square. But the modern Wellington Street West roadway is now connected with Somerset Street West, which becomes Wellington West at Garland Avenue. The Ottawa Hospital
The Ottawa Hospital () is a hospital system in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The system was formed through the merger of the former Grace Hospital, Ottawa Riverside Hospital, Ottawa General Hospital and Ottawa Civic Hospital. Tunney's Pasture is a campus in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, Ontario, that is exclusively developed for federal government buildings. Civic Hospital
Civic Hospital (French: ''Hôpital Civic'') is a neighbourhood in Kitchissippi Ward in central Ottawa, Canada. It is named after the Ottawa Civic Hospital, which is located in the neighbourhood. Civic Hospital is bounded on the west by Island Park Drive, on the north by the Queensway, on the east by Railway Street and on the south by Carling Avenue. The population as of the Canada 2016 Census was 5,062. Community Civic Hospital is primarily a residential neighbourhood; the Civic Hospital and a small number of office and commercial buildings line Carling Avenue along the area's southern edge.
