"Papercut" is a song by American rock band Linkin Park. It was released as the third single from their debut album ''Hybrid Theory'' (2000) and appears as the opening track on the record. It combines multiple genres in a way that Chester Bennington said captured the essence of the band. He also said it was one of his favorite Linkin Park tracks. The song reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart, and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. ''Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000–2023)'', or simply ''Papercuts'', is the first greatest hits album by American rock band Linkin Park. It was released on April 12, 2024, through Warner Records, following the '' Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition'' (2023). On June 28, 2024, the instrumental version of the album was released with the same track listing. Background The album spans the band's best-selling singles from 2000 to 2023 and was announced alongside the release of the song " Friendly Fire" on February 23, 2024, which appears as the final track and had been recorded during the ''One More Light'' (2017) sessions. Chester Charles Bennington (March 20, 1976 – July 20, 2017) was an American singer who was the lead vocalist of the rock band Linkin Park. He was also the lead vocalist of Grey Daze, Dead by Sunrise, and Stone Temple Pilots at various points in his career. Bennington first gained prominence as a vocalist following the release of Linkin Park's debut album, ''Hybrid Theory'' (2000), which was a worldwide commercial success. The album was certified RIAA certification, Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2005, making it the bestselling debut album of the decade, as well as one of the few albums ever to achieve that many sales. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of vinyl records and cassettes, and the terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings.
