Panchatantram
''Panchatantram'' is an Indian Telugu-language children's television series that aired on ETV from 2003 to 2007. Produced by Ramoji Rao under Usha Kiran Television, the series was directed by puppeteer Sanjit Ghosh. It is based on the ancient Indian fable collection ''Panchatantra'', attributed to Vishnu Sharma. It features stories with animal characters that convey moral lessons, using traditional puppetry techniques alongside modern special effects. The series, consisting of over 145 episodes, was broadcast on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. It incorporated various forms of traditional Indian puppetry, including rod, string, and glove puppetry, blended with advanced graphics and visual effects. ''Panchatantram'' was also dubbed into multiple Indian languages, including Bengali, Odia, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, and Hindi, and was aired on regional ETV channels across India. Colors Bangla (previously known as ETV Bangla) is an Indian general entertainment pay television channel broadcasting in Bengali language owned by JioStar, a joint venture between Viacom18 and Disney India. Ramoji Rao
Cherukuri Ramoji Rao (16 November 1936 – 8 June 2024) was an Indian businessman, media proprietor and film producer. He was head of the Ramoji Group which owns the world's largest film production facility Ramoji Film City, '' Eenadu'' newspaper, ETV Network of TV channels, film production company Ushakiran Movies. His other business ventures included Margadarsi Chit Fund, Dolphin Group of Hotels, Kalanjali Shopping Mall, Priya Pickles, ETV Win OTT platform and Mayuri Film Distributors. Rao garnered four Filmfare Awards South, five Nandi Awards and the National Film Award for his works in Telugu cinema. Glove Puppetry
Glove puppetry () is a type of opera using cloth puppets that originated during the 17th century in Quanzhou or Zhangzhou of China's Fujian province, and historically practised in the Min Nan-speaking areas such as Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, the Chaoshan region of Guangdong, and other parts of southern China. It had since established itself contemporarily as a popular art form in Taiwan. The puppet's head uses wood carved into the shape of a hollow human head, but aside from the head, palms, and feet, which are made of wood, the puppet's torso and limbs consist entirely of cloth costumes. At the time of the performance, a gloved hand enters the puppet's costume and makes it perform.
