The Palma Metro (, []) is a Medium-capacity rail transport system, light metro system in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The system is operated by the Consorci de Transports de Mallorca (CTM). , the system consists of a single line, the M1, with nine stations, linking Palma's city centre with the University of the Balearic Islands on the edge of the city. Between 2013 and 2022 there existed a second line, the M2, which ran between Palma and the town of Marratxí. In 2016, the Palma Metro carried 1.2 million passengers, an average of 3,288 per day. History Construction began in 2005 and the line fully opened to passengers on 25 April 2007. The project had cost 312 million euros. However, the line was forced to suspend its operations just five months after opening, due to repeated flooding in the tunnels. Services restarted on 28 July 2008 after a 46% cost overrun. Ferrocarril De Sóller
The Ferrocarril de Sóller (; ), acronym FS, is an interurban railway and the name for the company which operates the electrified narrow-gauge tracks running between the towns of Sóller and Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca (stopping at various smaller towns such as Bunyola and Son Sardina). The historic electric train takes a route north from the capital across the plains, winding through mountains and 13 tunnels of the Serra de Tramuntana, finally ending in the large railway station of the northern town of Sóller. Work began on the railway in 1911 on the profits of the orange and lemon trade, which at the time was booming. For this reason, it is sometimes known as the Orange Express. Marratxí () is a municipality in the Raiguer region of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands of Spain. As of 2005, it has a population of 28,237 and an area of 54 km2.
