Marratxí
Marratxí is a municipality in the Raiguer region of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands of Spain. As of 2005, it has a population of 28,237 and an area of 54 km2. It is also a station on the Majorca rail network. It became a municipality on 9 November 1932. There is no central town in the municipality; instead, it is an agglomeration of the villages of Pont d'Inca (16,518), Pla de na Tesa (3,304), Pòrtol (2,640) and Sa Cabaneta (5,748) - where the district council buildings are located. Economy The local economy is dominated by agriculture; however, significant employment is provided by traditional pottery manufacture and the large shopping complex at Pont d’Inca. Marratxí's population has increased rapidly since the mid-1990s due to the proliferation of new developments around the historical villages, since the municipality has good road—and to a lesser extent rail—links to nearby Palma. Majorca Rail Network
The Majorca rail network consists of three separate electrified lines, which radiate north and east from Palma de Mallorca, the major city on the Spanish island of Majorca. Raiguer () is a comarca (county) located in the north-central part of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands of Spain. Aeródromo De Son Bonet
Son Bonet Aerodrome ( es, Aeródromo de Son Bonet) was the first civil airfield on Mallorca. Originally built during the 1920s as an alternative to the military airport at Son Sant Joan, the first commercial flight was in 1927 and a flying school established in 1935. The airfield is located in the Marratxí municipality between Pont d'Inca and Pla de Na Tesa, which is in close proximity to Palma (5½ km northeast from the town centre). During the Spanish Civil War it was adapted for both civilian and military purposes. The Italian air force briefly used the airport as one of their bases to launch bomber raids over the mainland. During 1946, Son Bonet was equipped as a customs airport and opened to domestic and international traffic in July. Over the following decade, the airport traffic increased, which facilitated modernisation and improvements to be made.
