Palilula Glacier
Palilula Glacier (, ) is the 4 km long and 1.1 km wide steep valley glacier on Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica, situated south of Ralitsa Glacier, southwest of Paré Glacier and northwest of Gorichane Glacier. It drains the southwest slopes of Mount Rokitansky in Stribog Mountains, and flows south-southwestwards into Lanusse Bay east of Driencourt Point and northwest of Baykal Point. Baykal Point (, ‘Nos Baykal’ \'nos bay-'kal\) is the mostly ice-covered rocky point projecting 800 m south-southwestwards into Lanusse Bay on the west coast of Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica. A glacier (; or ) is a persistent body of dense ice, a form of rock, that is constantly moving downhill under its own weight. A glacier forms where the accumulation of snow exceeds its ablation over many years, often centuries. Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Bulgaria), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the List of Presidents of Bulgaria, President of the Republic according to the Constitution of Bulgaria, Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. List Of Glaciers In The Antarctic
There are many glaciers in the Antarctic. This set of lists does not include ice sheets, ice caps or ice fields, such as the Antarctic ice sheet, but includes glacial features that are defined by their flow, rather than general bodies of ice. The lists include outlet glaciers, valley glaciers, cirque glaciers, tidewater glaciers and ice streams. Ice streams are a type of glacier and many of them have "glacier" in their name, e.g. Pine Island Glacier. Ice shelves are listed separately in the List of Antarctic ice shelves. Driencourt Point () is a point 6 nautical miles (11 km) southeast of Claude Point on the west side of Brabant Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. It was first charted by the French Antarctic Expedition, 1903–05, and named by Jean-Baptiste Charcot after Joseph F.L. Palmer Archipelago
Palmer Archipelago, also known as Antarctic Archipelago, Archipiélago Palmer, Antarktiske Arkipel or Palmer Inseln, is a group of islands off the northwestern coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. It extends from Tower Island in the north to Anvers Island in the south. It is separated by the Gerlache Strait, Gerlache and Bismarck Strait, Bismarck straits from the Antarctic Peninsula and Wilhelm Archipelago, respectively.
