Kangra District
Kangra district is the most populous district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Dharamshala is the administrative headquarters of the district. History Kangra is known for having one of the oldest serving Royal Dynasty in the world, the Katoch of the Kangra State. In 1758, Raja Ghamand Chand was appointed ''nazim'' or governor of Jullundur Doab under the Afghans. Ghamand Chand was a brave and strong ruler who restored the prestige of Kangra. As he was unable to capture Kangra Fort, he built another fort at Tira Sujanpur on the left bank of the Beas, almost opposite to Alampur on a hill overlooking the town. He died in 1774 and was succeeded by his son, Tegh Chand, who died too soon in 1775. Ghamand Chand's grandson, Raja Sansar Chand (r. 1775–1823) established the supremacy of Kangra over all the surrounding hill states. Maranda is a suburb in Palampur City on the Kangra district in Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Dharamshala is the administrative headquarters of the Kangra district. Maranda is a suburb in Palampur which is a green hill station and a municipal Corporation in the Kangra Valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. This is a list of urban agglomerations, cities and towns as per 2011 census in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala, Solan, Palampur, and Mandi became municipal corporations after 2011 census hence their area has been expanded resulting in a change of population, which has been updated as recent one. Most of the cities and towns appear to have larger population than the above mentioned figures due to rapid outgrowth in the recent years. For example, Baddi has emerged as one of the largest cities considering rapid industrialisation and urbanisation in the past decade. While, its official figures state its population to be around 29,911 as per 2011; the actual urban agglomerations population is around 100,000 since official figure takes into account only the notified part of the city as urban population. Jogindernagar, or Jogindar Nagar (), is a municipality, and a sub district in Mandi district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Bhuntar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Kullu district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is just 11 km from Kullu town, and lies along National Highway 3. Kangra-Gaggal Airport , officially known as Kangra Airport, is a domestic airport serving areas of Kangra including Dharamshala, the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located at Gaggal, which is situated from the city, from Kangra and from Kangra Railway Station.
