Painkiller (magazine)
''Painkiller'' ( zh, c=重型音乐, p=Zhòngxíng Yīnyuè, l=Heavy Duty Music) is China's first heavy music magazine. It is a legally registered enterprise for print media productions by Chinese State Authority. Based in Beijing, it was founded in September 2000 and started off publishing quarterly; the frequency in 2006, is one issue every two months. Their current average circulation is 40,000 copies; sold in all major cities of mainland China (Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an, etc.), as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. The magazine's language is Chinese, and has correspondents, foreign editors and contributors in the USA, UK, and Germany for interviews, foreign news, and features. The magazine has a front cover with the title in Chinese and a back cover with the title in English; normal publication is 204 pages in full color with a fold out color poster. Vincent Damon Furnier (born February 4, 1948), known by his stage name Alice Cooper, is an American rock singer and songwriter whose career spans sixty years. Nevermore (band)
Nevermore is an American heavy metal band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1992. The band was formed after three of its members — vocalist Warrel Dane, bassist Jim Sheppard and guitarist Jeff Loomis — ended their previous band Sanctuary, and had several drummers before hiring Van Williams in 1994. Nevermore has experienced numerous lineup changes, and as of 2024, Loomis is the only remaining original member. The band became a five-piece in 1996, when they added Pat O'Brien as their second guitarist. After recording their second album '' The Politics of Ecstasy'' with O'Brien, the band replaced him with Tim Calvert, who played on the follow-up album '' Dreaming Neon Black'' (1999) and left a year after its release. Sentenced (band)
Sentenced was a Finnish gothic metal band that played melodic death metal in their early years. The band formed in 1989 in the town of Muhos and broke up in 2005. Lead guitarist Miika Tenkula was the band's vocalist for the first album, but duties were shifted to bassist Taneli Jarva for the next two albums, ''North from Here'' and ''Amok'', until his departure in 1995. Under new lead vocalist Ville Laihiala, Sentenced shifted from melodic death metal to gothic metal and enjoyed a run of commercial success in Finland, including three consecutive number-one albums. The band announced in 2005 that their eighth album '' The Funeral Album'' would be their last. The single "Ever-Frost" spent six weeks at number one in Finland and Sentenced's final show took place on 1 October in their hometown Oulu. Tenkula died of a heart attack in 2009. Arch Enemy (band)
Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band, originally a supergroup from Halmstad, formed in 1995. Its members were in bands such as Carcass, Armageddon, Carnage, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars, The Agonist, Nevermore, and Eucharist. It was founded by Carcass guitarist Michael Amott along with Johan Liiva, who were both originally from the death metal band Carnage. Anthrax (American Band)
Anthrax is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is part of the "Big Four" of the genre, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. They were also one of the first thrash metal bands (along with Overkill (band), Overkill and Nuclear Assault) to emerge from the East Coast. The band's current lineup consists of Scott Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Midi Music Festival
The Midi Music Festival, sometimes also called Midi Modern Music Festival or simply Midi Festival ( zh, c=迷笛音乐节, p=Mídí Yīnyuè Jié) is among China's largest rock music festivals and is hosted by the Beijing Midi School of Music. Since its inauguration in 1997 it has been held each year in Beijing during the International Workers' Day, May Day holiday (May 1–3), with some breaks in 2003, 2004 and 2008 (all times held in October). Currently, it change to (April 28 to May 1). The 2008 festival was delayed to October for reasons related to the 2008 Summer Olympics, and in 2020 and 2021 they were cancelled due to COVID.
