La Libertad Region
La Libertad (; in English: ''The Liberty'') is a region in northwestern Peru. Formerly it was known as the Department of La Libertad ('). It is bordered by the Lambayeque, Cajamarca and Amazonas regions on the north, the San MartÃn Region on the east, the Ancash and Huánuco regions on the south and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Its capital is Trujillo, which is the nation's third biggest city. The region's main port is Salaverry, one of Peru's largest ports. Óscar Felipe Ventura
Óscar Enrique Felipe Ventura (born March 18, 1943, San Pedro de Lloc) is a Peruvian politician. He was a Member of Parliament 1985-1990. As of 2013 he was the spokesman of the Regional Committee "César Vallejo" of the Communist Party of Peru (Red Fatherland) (PCdelP-Patria Roja) in La Libertad, organizing secretary of the Regional Front for Defense and Development of La Libertad (FREDELL), as well as a leader the Social Affirmation Movement (MAS) in La Libertad. Teodoro de Croix (June 20, 1730, Pr̩vot̩ Castle, near Lille, France Р1792, Madrid) was a Spanish soldier and colonial official in New Spain and Peru. From April 6, 1784 to March 25, 1790 he was viceroy of Peru. Background Teodoro de Croix was born in France, the third son of Alexandre-Maximilien-Fran̤ois de Croix, Marquis of Heuchin, and Isabelle-Claire-Eug̬ne de Houchin. He entered the Spanish army at age 17 and was sent to Italy as an ensign of grenadiers of the Royal Guard. In 1750 he transferred to the Walloon Guards, bodyguards of the Bourbon kings of Spain. In 1756 he was promoted to lieutenant and was made a knight in the Teutonic Order. He became a colonel (still in the Walloon Guards) in 1760.
