PSUV
The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (, PSUV, ) is a socialist political party which has been the ruling party of Venezuela since 2007. It was formed from a merger of some of the political and social forces that support the Bolivarian Revolution led by President Hugo Chávez. At the 2015 parliamentary election, PSUV lost its majority in the National Assembly for the first time since the unicameral legislature's creation in 2000 against the Democratic Unity Roundtable, winning 55 out of the National Assembly's 167 seats. In the 2020 elections however, amid a widespread opposition boycott, they won back a supermajority of the chamber. The National Assembly () is the federal legislature of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which was first elected in 2000 under the Constitution of Venezuela, 1999 constitution. It is a unicameral body made up of a variable number of members, who are elected by a "universal, direct, personal, and secret" vote partly by direct election in state-based voting districts, and partly on a state-based party-list proportional representation system. Each of the 23 States of Venezuela, States and the Capital District (Venezuela), Capital District elects no less than three representatives plus the result of dividing the state population by 1.1% of the total population of the country. Governors in Venezuela are in charge of the government and administration of each state. A governor must be a Venezuelan over the age of 25 who is not a member of the clergy. The governor can be elected for a term of four years by a majority vote. The governor can be re-elected to an additional term only immediately and only once. Colectivos (, ) are Far-left politics, far-left Venezuelan armed paramilitary groups that support the Bolivarian Revolution, Bolivarian government, the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) political alliance and Venezuela's ruling party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). ''Colectivo'' has become an umbrella term for Irregular military, irregular armed groups that operate in poverty-stricken areas. Diosdado Cabello Rondón (born 15 April 1963Vicepresidencia de la República Bolivariana de VenezuelaDiosdado Cabello Rondón, accessed 19 April 2010) is a Venezuelan politician who currently serves as Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace since 2024.
