PR Postcode Area
The PR postcode area, also known as the Preston postcode area, is a group of eleven postcode districts in North West England which together cover northern Merseyside and parts of central and southern Lancashire. Its four post towns are Chorley, Leyland, Lancashire, Leyland, Southport, and Preston, Lancashire, Preston. Barnacre-with-Bonds is a civil parish in the Wyre district of Lancashire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,751 increasing to 2,148 at the 2011 census. The parish covers an area to the south and east of Garstang, including the settlements of Bonds, Calder Vale and Bowgreave. It is mostly rural and hilly with a small population. Sharoe Green
Sharoe Green ( ) is a largely residential suburban area of Preston, Lancashire, England, and an electoral ward. It is nowadays usually considered to be a district of the larger suburb of Fulwood (and formed part of the pre-1974 Fulwood Urban District). Royal Preston Hospital, the largest hospital in Lancashire and sole main provider of NHS hospital treatment in Preston, is within the ward boundaries, as is Preston College, a number of secondary and primary schools, and Preston Golf Course. Sharoe Green is a district of Preston with its near neighbour Sherwood, positioned to the far northeast of the city centre adjoining Deepdale. Ribbleton
Ribbleton is a suburb and ward of the city of Preston, Lancashire, England. It is located to the east of the city centre, between the A59 New Hall Lane and the B6243 Longridge Road. The M6 motorway also runs through the area. The ward had a population of 7,351 recorded in the 2001 census increasing to 8,548 at the 2011 Census. Community Ribbleton has a library, a number of shops, a pub, post offices and schools. Demographics In 2001 at the time of the census, 77.2% of Ribbleton residents classed themselves as Christian. Lea ( ), Cottam, and Lea Town are villages in the City of Preston, Lancashire, England. Together they form the civil parish of Lea and Cottam, which has a population of 5,962. In 2011, the population increased to 6,157. Geography Lea is the name given to two areas of the western extremities of Preston; Lea Town (a village, despite its name) on the Fylde border, which had a population of 291 in 2011, and the suburban sprawl of Lea along the Blackpool Road through the city. Larches, Preston
Larches is one of the districts of Preston, Lancashire, England. The area, north-west of Preston city centre, is a mix of social and private housing, although both components of the ward – Larches, and Savick – are largely post-war council estates. Ashton Park is in the middle of the current ward, which borders Riversway and the civil parish of Lea. The area of Larches is part of Ashton-on-Ribble, which was part of the former hundred of Amounderness. With small businesses and shops in the area, the population are largely commute-to-work families and retirees. Ingol
Ingol is an electoral ward and suburb of Preston, Lancashire, England. The population of the Ward as taken at the 2011 census was 7,369. The ward also includes the district of Tanterton. The ward is coterminous with the civil parish of Ingol and Tanterton, created in 2012. With a golf course within its boundaries and continued new housing development, the area is suburban in its northern and central areas with a more significant low income housing area in its eastern part. Ingol and Tanterton straddle the historic boundary between the former County Borough of Preston and Fulwood Urban District. Ingol has running through it the main Woodplumpton Road running from Preston's Lane Ends shopping community to the villages in the parish of Woodplumpton and the borough of Wyre. Haighton
Haighton is a civil parish in the City of Preston, Lancashire, England. It is a rural area north east of the urban city of Preston, beyond Fulwood and Brookfield. Geography Haighton also contains the hamlets of Haighton Green and Haighton Top. It is separated from the city by the M6 motorway, with junction 31A on the boundary with Brookfield. Grimsargh
Grimsargh is a village and civil parish in the City of Preston, Lancashire, England. It's located approximately east of Preston. History The name Grimsargh is said to derive from an Old Norse name ''Grímr'' with Norse ''erg''. One reference lists it as coming from the Domesday Book's ''Grimesarge'', "at the temple of Grimr" (a name for Odin). Oliver Cromwell's Roundhead army came through Grimsargh en route to what is now Walton-le-Dale in Preston, on what became known as the Battle of Preston on 17 August 1648. In 1868 by E. G. Paley was contracted to rebuild the nave and added a tower to an existing chapel in the village. Known today as St Michael's Church it is in sandstone with slate roofs, and consists of a nave, a north aisle, a chancel, a northeast vestry, and a west tower. Cadley is a largely residential suburban area of Preston, Lancashire, England, and an electoral ward. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 4,589. It is usually considered to be a district of the larger suburb of Fulwood (and formed part of the pre-1974 Fulwood Urban District), but was historically separate as evidenced, for instance, in the name of Fulwood and Cadley County Primary School.
