The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is an Indian professional Kabaddi league for men. It premiered in 2014 and airs on Star Sports. It is the most popular kabaddi league in the world and the third most watched sports league in India after the Indian Premier League and Indian Super League. Haryana Steelers are the current champions. Since its inception there have been eight different champions, Patna Pirates have won the competition a record three consecutive times. They are the only team to defend their title. Jaipur Pink Panthers has won it twice while U Mumba, Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriors, Dabang Delhi, Puneri Paltan and Haryana Steelers have one title each. Pardeep Narwal
Pardeep Narwal (born 16 February 1997) is an Indian former international kabaddi player, who played as a raider. Widely regarded as the greatest raider in kabaddi history, he led the Patna Pirates to three straight titles in Pro Kabaddi League and holds a multitude of the league's raiding records. Early life Narwal was born in Rindhana village of Haryana's Sonipat district, where he started playing kabaddi. He started learning Kabaddi when he was only 6 years old. He got picked for his school's Kabaddi team when he was just 11 years old. Later, at 12, he joined the Haryana Kabaddi Academy. Kabaddi (, ) is a contact team sport played between two teams of seven players. It is one of the traditional games of South Asia. In this game, a raider enters the opposing half of the court to touch defenders and attempt to return within 30 seconds without being tackled. Haryana Steelers is a professional kabaddi team based in Haryana that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is led by Jaideep Dahiya and coached by Manpreet Singh. It is owned by JSW Sports, of the JSW Group. The home matches are played at Tau Devi Lal Athletic Stadium. The Steelers had a good start to life in the PKL as they reached the playoffs in their debut 2017 season. U Mumba is a professional kabaddi team based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The franchise is currently led by Sunil Kumar, and coached by Anil Chaprana and Gholamreza Mazandarani. The team is owned by Unilazer Ventures Pvt. Ltd with co-founders Ronnie Screwvala and Supratik Sen. U Mumba play their home matches at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium. Bengal Warriorz (BEN) is a professional kabaddi team based in Kolkata, West Bengal that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. In 2019, they won the trophy for the first time by defeating Dabang Delhi. The team is currently led by Devank Dalal and coached by Naveen Kumar Bazzad and Praveen Malik. The team play their home matches at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Patna Pirates (PTP) is a professional kabaddi team based in Patna, Bihar, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is led by Ankit Jaglan and coached by Anup Kumar (kabaddi). The 2023–2024 Pro Kabaddi League was the tenth season of the Pro Kabaddi League, a franchise based kabaddi league in India. Jaipur Pink Panthers were the defending champions. The 2024 Pro Kabaddi League was the eleventh season of the Pro Kabaddi League, a franchise-based Kabaddi league in India. The league matches of this season started on October 18. Puneri Paltan were the defending champions, who won their maiden PKL title, beating Haryana Steelers in the previous edition. Haryana Steelers became the champions for the maiden time after finishing as runners-up in the last season. They defeated three-time champions Patna Pirates to clinch the title.
