P. A. Mohammed Riyas
P. A. Mohammed Riyas is an Indian politician currently serving as the Minister for Public Works Department and Tourism , Government of Kerala. He is the Kerala state committee member of far left CPI(M), and the former All India President of the DYFI. Early life, family and education Riyas was born in Kozhikode. His father P. M. Abdul Khader, was a police officer who got promoted and retired with a conferred IPS. His relative P. K. Moidheenkutty Sahib was a former president of KPCC, AICC member, freedom fighter, and a member of Madras assembly in 1937. Riyas did his schooling at St. Joseph's Boys' Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode and joined Farook College, Kozhikode for his pre-degree education. Farook College is a government-aided, autonomous, arts and science college located in Feroke near Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It is the largest residential post-graduate aided institution in Kerala affiliated to the University of Calicut; it was granted autonomous college status in 2015. The Communist Party of India (CPI) is a political party in India. The CPI considers the December 26, 1925 Cawnpore (Kanpur) conference as its foundation date. Between 1946 and 1951, the CPI led militant struggles such as the peasant revolt in Telangana, organising guerrilla warfare against feudal lords. The CPI was the main opposition party in India during the 1950s to 1960s.
