Oroluk Atoll
Oroluk Atoll is an atoll belonging to Pohnpei State in the Micronesia. Description Oroluk Atoll stretches from the northwest to the southeast with a length of about and an average width of . The lagoon's surface is roughly . The more than 25 sandy islets and banks, predominantly on the eastern rim of the atoll, have been washed away by cyclones through the years. Only one island remains, Oroluk Island in the very northwest corner of the atoll. Oroluk Atoll is believed to have been first discovered and named by navigators from Namoluk Island in the Mortlock Islands. The inhabitants of Oroluk are only between five and ten in number. They come mainly from Sector 4 of the Kapinga Village in Kolonia, Pohnpei, and tend to the plantations of bananas and taro. A supply ship generally calls into the lagoon once every 6 months. Minto Reef
Minto Reef is a largely submerged atoll belonging to Pohnpei State in Micronesia. Description Minto Reef encloses a lagoon of about 25 to 30 km2 in area. There are several boat passages into the lagoon on the southern side. It is at the same time the westernmost and northernmost feature of Pohnpei State. The nearest land is Oroluk Atoll 93 km to the southeast. Close to the northern extremity of the atoll there is a sandbank, about 1.8 meters high. Sokehs
Sokehs is a municipality on the main island in the state of Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. It consists of 21 villages. One of them is Palikir, the federal capital. Another is Pakin Atoll, an atoll some 30 km northwest of the main island of Pohnpei. Since 1985, the former, depopulated Oroluk Atoll and close by Minto Reef became part of Sokehs municipality. The namesake Sokehs Peninsula is located north of the main island. Kapingamarangi
Kapingamarangi is an atoll and a municipality in the state of Pohnpei of the Federated States of Micronesia. It is by far the most southerly atoll or island of the country and the Caroline Islands, south of the next southerly atoll, Nukuoro, and southwest of the main island of Pohnpei state; it forms a Polynesian outlier. Kolonia
Kolonia is a coastal town and the capital of Pohnpei State in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). It's not to be confused with the far smaller Colonia, the capital of the State of Yap. It was also the former FSM capital before being replaced by Palikir in 1989, located nearby to the southwest in the municipality of Sokehs. It has 6,074 people. Description Kolonia Town is located in the north central section of Pohnpei Island. It was formerly part of Nett municipality but has been a separate municipality since May 1965. Nukuoro
Nukuoro is an atoll in the Federated States of Micronesia. It is a municipality of the state of Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. It is the secondmost southern atoll of the country, after Kapingamarangi. They both are Polynesian outliers. , Nukuoro had a population of 372, though several hundred Nukuorans live on Pohnpei. Fishing, animal husbandry, and agriculture ( taro and copra) are the main occupations. A recent project to farm black pearl oysters has been successful at generating additional income for the island's people. Nukuoro is remote. It has no airstrip, and a passenger boat calls irregularly only once every few months. The island has no tourism except for the occasional visit by passing sailing yachts. Sapwuahfik, formerly Ngatik, or the Raven Islands is a atoll in Pohnpei state of the Federated States of Micronesia. It is a village and municipality of roughly 430 people on a land area of . It is mostly known in history as the site of the Ngatik massacre. Geography It is located southwest of the main island of Pohnpei in the Eastern Caroline Islands and consists of 10 individual islands on the reef. The largest and only inhabited island is Ngatik, at the western end. The atoll is long and up to wide. The lagoon measures in area, and the total area is .
